i have search and search and i have found a lot of different answers so i need help to get the right answers?

I have tried to install a 96 abs J30 six bolt vlsd into my s13 and was able to get it in but when i tried to put together the drive shaft and the diff it was very tight and i was afraid that i might ruin my trans so i stop and took it out and put my stock open diff back in.

I search for a couple of days and came up with some answers saying it is ok to install the abs j30 into a non abs car and some say you have to get the abs drive shaft and some just say that it is ok for the abs diff and drive shaft to be that tight and might ruin the transmission? The funny one i heard was you can swap the internals vlsd into the open diff but when i tried it the vlsd was too big for the open and it didn't work at all. so i am asking the people who has done this swap. What is the truth behind this story. Can you swap the abs j30 vlsd into a non abs vehicle without the abs drive shaft. Can you swap the internals without a problem? Will the transmission get ruin with the abs j30 and a non abs drive shaft being that tight together? Please help with a lot of DETAIL PLEASE

You can try and putting a J30 diff in without a abs driveshaft, many have done it.I personally won't recommend doing that.

Yep, it will be tight since the J30 diff has the abs sensor. Some people run it like that and they don't leak or anything.

I did it, and everything was fine until I wrecked the car. When I remove the vlsd and the axles, one of the axles cap is leaking, but it happened after I remove it. But yes, it is fine.

probably the best way to go tho. but if you can find a way that will work and save you a good chunk of change, the more power to ya.

get an abs driveshaft from another 240.... or you can swap the lsd from the j30 into the open diff pumpkin. Idk if that fits, but try it, let us know.
