Almost every semester, they bs me about my financial aid as if they didn't already take enough out to fund all the stupid buildings they're building at the south campus. This semester, they attacked me with all sorts of holds on my account. First i couldn't sign up for classes due to non-existent problems they created. Now, i can't get my refund. I really need that money today, and they're telling me i have to wait til the end of the week.

I know there are some other people her that attend that school that steals your financial aid to make stupid buildings. Am i the only one this sort of crap happens to almost every semester?

I always get quick and helpful service from my university. They want my money (a lot of it), so they're determined to make sure my funding is all there. They will even call if I miss the first day of class and will nag me to renew and get all the correct forms in on time.

Yea all because they want to make stupid buildings. They're supposedly on budget cuts but they have money to be building 2-3 different buildings at one time. Some of that money comes out of people's financial aid for sure. Cause what they tell me im getting initially isn't usually what i end up with. so that shaved off amount has to go somewhere, and i suspect it goes towards the stupid buildings i'm seeing being built.

Yes, Jesda, where did you go? Cause i'm really pondering a transfer.

Maryville University St Louis MO -- Last semester is this fall. YAY!

I might stick around longer, for fun, and go for a minor in music.

mhmm. 2 years of budget cuts, but strangely they can afford 4 new buildings. In these budget cuts, students have seen significant cuts in financial aid and class choices as a good amount of classes have been dropped from the school. Doesn't that just seem too shady?

It sounds like your school doesn't have it's priorities straight. If they think shiny, new buildings are more important than certain classes and helping out their students, they're going to run themselves into the ground. Best of luck to you.

1 of the buildings i can understand, because the Medical School needed a building. But to this day, i haven't met another student who seems to know what the other three are for. Maybe i should expand my network. I only have a year and a half left and i'll be done with them.

Well that's what you get for being unable to get into The University of Florida.

I mean, was even FSU out of the question?

Sort of went through that, but not quite.

I got into USF for the fall, but they've made a whole mess of me being an FL resident and me being an "international" student (Canadian). First, they wanted to charge me as international, but I sent them proof that I'm an FL resident and have only paid FL prices. So they gave me that. Next, they want to me to sign up for an international orientation, which is in Tampa and not my local campus. I have to drive an hour to attend a 15 minute session, wtf. Thirdly, because I'm international for every other reason aside from tuition, I have to buy the school's insurance policy, but then they tell me I can use my own but I have to fill out a form, which they would email me...got nothing so far. It's just been hell dealing with them. Also, I've got some major issues with Bright Futures that I've been trying to get resolved, but my current school's been taking their own f*** sweet time and I may not get my damn money in time.

dang that sucks. 15 minute international session. you should've called and tell them to at least make it an hour with free food.

My school used to pull this crap with financial aid. Tried to force me into a meal plan too. So, I systematically set out to conduct myself in a manner that would cost the school as much money as possible, and flaunted it. Lots of leaving the lights on, running 2 computers, printing unnecessary crap, wasting the time of faculty, all within acceptable use policies of course (if barely).

Then of course there was the stealing, but I didn't tell them about that.

Gainesville blows. Small town full of gay frat boys. UF is a jungle to navigate through. UCF is much more organized, two giant circles.

Dre, I go to FIU as well. I can tell you that the buildings that are being built are very badly needed. One is for the Medical school program that just opened, the other is for the Law school program that also just opened. And the last one is a parking garage being built in front of the Chemistry Physics building. And trust me... the parking garage is needed most of all.

I dont have much experience with their financial aid program... but I did have some experience when I had the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. My only problem I had was that I lost the scholarship because I didnt take the required amount of classes in a 1 year period.

Yes, tuition prices have gone up and several classes have been cancelled, but its not much different in other campuses across the US. Classes are being dropped, yes, but other classes are opening in their place.

Thanks for shedding some light on that. Just got wind that i'm not getting any financial aid refunds either. i'm over it though. just gotta drop a summer class, so i don't owe the University. Don't ask why, just take my word when i say, they really screwed me over this time. Took me all of an hour to get over it. A whole hour wasted.
