well my car is dead again, after numerous attempts to get it to run right i finaly get it and it decides that it hates me.went to go drive the car today and noticed it was smoking, get out to find that there is pressure in my valve covers, my bov graciously baptized me in oil when i tested it and it smokes like a redneck's back yard on the 4th of july.to make a long story short, im about to give up on this car and just sell it.i need to leakdowntest the ***** to see if its the rings,hg or valvestem seals.im gonna go cry now.

Goddamn it Carl! I feel your pain man! Don't give up on it though. You know it could be absolutely awesome so mourn your losses, take a break from the project, and then come at it again full steam.

Haha, I was just making it so he couldn't give up, because of what his signature says.

Carl, sorry I haven't gotten to converse much the last couple days over IM about the tuning situation, but maybe there was an underlying problem causing the tuning issues. Did you figure out what MAF you have?

yeah, kinda funny how my sig came to life and bit me in the ***.anyways im still not sure what kind of maf it is but it seems to be the same resolution as the rb stocker (car ran the same without any correction) sucks but oh well.as far as tuning possibly causing the problem, while it is wholey possible im not sure its the culprit.i always made sure that under boost the afr's were in the 11-12 range and with the chip rom it was sightly lean under initial boost (spool up) but once full boost hit it was in the 11's.again i really wont know whats going on till i leak test it so i will try and do that tommorow.

sorry to hear about your loss but don't give up you might have to tear it apart.. I had all my rings in good conditions but my ring glands were gone, mine also blew a lot of oil throught that vent on top pf the valve cover. good luck man just pick up another rb20 engine or keep the transmission and bolt up an rb25.

That sucks to hear that man, I'm sure you're able to "bakes some more bread"and which instance are you hating on the SR? when someone swaps it or when it comes in the car? cuz my(soon to be) car comes with SR from the factory..... though I do dream of an RB26

ok, i did a compression test on the motor (yes i know leakdown is ideal but i couldnt find a leakdown tester).here are the results of the leakdown:with engine hot and throttle at wotdry: 145 145 145 140 140 145wet:160 160 160 155 160 165some one care to throw their thoughts out about the test results?

lyon - yeah im trying my best to keep my head up and not let this little setback get me down. and i wont swap in an rb25 too much work for little reward, not to mention i have a softspot in my heart for 2l turbo engines; specialy ones that rev to 8k.

Alright man.. when mine got messed up it still rode fine as long as I didn't boost it..I didn't test it I just took it apart (I thought it was that cuz the same thing happened to my friends integra and that;s when I knew the same thing happened to me and he leak tested his and it came out fine but it wasn't when he took his apart)...I have a HKS 1.6mm metal HG from takakaira if your thinking about rebuilding it let me know.I'll work with you on it..I'm thinking of goin neo 25.

Another thing I found out was that an 87 pulsar se (1.6l turbo) has 78mm pistons and this model did come to the us...Autozone has chrome molly rings for it for $69. I've not tried to confirm this to see if they would fit an rb20 but if someone knows why it would not work please let me know...
