That doesn't surprise me. 55 or 60 on I-85, or especially I-285 can be very dangerous. Speed doesn't kill, it's the difference in speed that kills. Atlanta has one of the highest average speeds that exceeds the posted speed limit of any city on earth. At one time, I read a study that showed that the average speed on I-285 was 84.1 mph. That's 34.1 mph over the posted speed limit...ON AVERAGE.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:I was thinking the points would never make it to FLA anyway... But since I want to go to Law school... I talked to the lawyer again today and he wants 500.00 dollars to go to court and try to take care of it the first day. He wants me to do a defensive driving course and also have 50 hours of community service done to (look good and to pay the fines). He also asked for a copy of my driving record so i got that to him today. he said since it is so clean that I will have a really good chance!
Driving record is completely clean thanks to my court appearances on all my other tickets and getting out with no points.
Oh and he told me that he has a GA state trooper friend that if you are going 55 or even 60 on I85 he would give you a ticket for obstructing traffic flow!
that would have been nice to get in the same day and then show up to court with both and say

Increased enforcement has reduced the speeding over the past 10 years or so, so it's not as big of problem, but I'd be willing to bet the average speed now on these roads is still probably around 70-75 mph, which in some states would still get you arrested.
When I took driver's training back when I was 15 yrs old, I was going 60 in a 55 and the instructor told me to speed up because I was traveling at too dangerous of a speed (too slow).
