Without going into detail, I got home from work today early. Step son (15 yrs old) was not in bed as he should have been at 5:45 am on a school day! I went and tracked him down, he had left after I did for work the night before for work to stay at his buddies house. Didn't think I would be home in time to find out. Well I was PISSED to put it mildly. I was into the throtle harder then anytime I can remember in recent years. I used to be a real muscle car motorhead, but have not beaten on a vehicle in a long time.

The vert really surprised me! It will put down some nice strips of rubber even straight on from a dead stop. Then hitting it hard while cornering..........I now understand what all the drifting craze is about. I was pissed, but having the time of my life beaten the tar out of the poor vert! Anyway, I had no idea the car would preform the way it does, and I have had it for 3 or 4 months now!

haha that's a great story!

Now imagine lowering the car with some suspension parts to reduce the body roll, adding some go-fast mods to increase hp, and some nice sport tires to really grab the road.

Pretty soon you'll be hooked on modding for performance like the rest of us are.

You need to drive your cars harder more often. Try to do it with a clearer head though. Driving pissed or depressed or under the influence of any other brain-altering emotions isn't a good idea.

Hopefully your step-son "learned his lesson".

I was suprised with the vert too. in my earlier 240 days i was thinking it was a neccsessity to go KA-t or sr. Later on I was on the beltway with my vert trapped in an exit lane leading to god knows where and some stupid ricer civic wsa trying to be cool and not let me in. thats the first time I learned about the KA's abilities haha

I have been spoiled by a coupe w/ 5spd, so the heavier Vert with AT does feel sluggish to me, but that will change slowly.

The KA is a good engine, just can't go out thinking you are the fastest thing around.

I don’t know, I have made my best land speed records while in a state of shear madness. BiXLL I share child frustrations and also amazement as I have drifted my KA+automatic sideways down the Roscoe exit in the San Fernando valley after hunting my niece down who thought school was optional on Tuesdays. Good news is she never wants uncle to hunt her a$$ down and take her back to school!

Great story as i was reading it i was thinking it was going to be a bad story about how you crashed your vert while driving pissed. in my head i waas like this kid is toast.. lol but when i got to the end you put a big smile on my face.. Ii'm with Eikon with some suspension and motor mod's you'll really feel the diffrence and be hooked for life.

Oh crap. Next thing you know we're going to see a middle aged man sliding through the rural PA "touges" in his fully-caged vert.

My verts slow. But it gets me 28 to the gallon and looks real spiffy, so I'm good.

ROFLMAO!!! Thats funny right there!!!!! No worries though, even fitting the middle aged man role, I am also too big a tight wad to waste money roasting tires for fun!!! Now in my younger days, I would go through 4 sets of rear tires to every 1 set of steer tires!!! Nothing like the smell of burning rubber in the morning!!

Hahaha that would be quite a sight...

Anyways, even though my vert is stock I still make the most of it on twisty roads and on long stretches of open highway whenever I can. While it can be fun, there is obviously room for improvement. 5 speed, sway bars, etc. Boost would be nice too.

Early morning or late night runs while it's cool outside is always a blast.

Got a Q. wodan's burnout pic shows driver's side wheel is turning. On yours, it's a passenger side wheel. Why is that? Maybe wondan had LSD?

Late at night when no one was around, Walmart parking lot on rainy day. That's what I did when I got mine back in 1998.

I don't recall Dan having any mods to his 240. I always figured it was just chance whichever wheel actually breaks loose first.

to my knowledge, the open diff dosnt just lock to the one side. It locks to the side with less force on it.

For example, if i had my passenger side rear tire on a patch of ice and gave her hell, only that tire would spin, But if i turned the car around, and parked the drivers side rear tire on the patch of ice, now that one would spin.

Make sense?

Try it in reverse, I was amazed. I was at a buddy's house and while leaving he said, "go ahead, peel out." I was pretty sure she wouldn't but floored it in reverse anyway in his driveway and *screeeeech* left a nice bit of Yokohama behind. In forward is another story. Maybe while turning or if hte ground is wet or has any loose dirt.

I imagine reving it in neutral and popping it into drive would work too.

Although the rears are kind goin.....i was in a parking lot and some hot chicks were walkin by and i was like, okay, peel out a little, full throttle and out. yea it didnt work out like that. It was more like gas, spinning rears, car not moving and me looking like an idiot

You guys need to get a five speed then. I got wheelspin at every light and stop sign (when I'm not stalling like an idiot and burning my starter).

God I suck at this...

I've honestly never broken the tires loose from a dead stop in my vert. I don't like to beat on automatic transmissions.

^Loki, I just got a 5 speed with LSD!

i have a welded diff with 18" rims and i can do brake stands.

it is such a fun car.. i beat the snot of of it and it starts fine everytime.

no 5 sd yet.

i was going to the swap but i'm about to get a 92 coupe this week that has a 5 sd. since the coupe is in way better shape than my vert i was going to put my performance parts on that..
