I had the dreaded hard 3rd gear engagement problem, but now after new tranny fluid (at 12,000 highway only miles), the car shifts better than ever.

I now realize, I had poor shift performance from day 1.

i just thought car was harder to shift than other cars and that it was normal for a 350.

Shifter is real smooth now, before, it had to be finessed, to go into some gears especially 3rd.

Question:

DO I have syncro problem ?

With these cars if you have a tranny problem, I understand, they usually show up a lot earlier than my current milage (13,000), but my driving is so atypical, i wouldnt be surprised if I have fewer shifts on the car than some folks with 4000 miles.I have driven entire half tankfuls in nothing but 6th Gear many times.

Also I am thinking a SC kit for the car.

DO I really wanna risk voiding my powertrain waranty when I am unsure if the tranny is sound?

But then again it shifts perfect now..

Was there any damage done from whatever the problem was before ( over or underfill at factory?)

And also worst case scenario does anhyone know how much it would cost to replace a 350Z 6 Speed, w/o the benefit of a factory warranty?

labor wise it is very simple to R&R the trans on the 350, as compared to a 300z. the only caution would be the driveshaft handling since it is composite plastic. I have been told if you even bump it against something to throw it away and get a new one as it could shatter under torq when reinstalled. Cost wise the trans is $2,165.00

Awesome!

That mean since labor isnt a lot I should be able to get my tranny replacedcomplete for 2k, if I ever need to due to FI.

Fred.
