You probably saw my post a long time ago when I had a no start. After replacing the ecu and 3 igniter I had the chance to get a ride , but with no maf .

On the end of the first day the engine blow , so I got my hand on another one for cheap and did the swap this week end .

Now im back in the same situation , as I was in the last winter.

An engine who wont make any spark . I know how the check for power to coil packs and stuff but I had a quick question ...

Since I replaced the short block ( re-installed the same wiring and electronics) , even with my key out of the hole I still have the DRL and the lights in the cluster ( door warning and e-brake,etc ) are always ON . Which wire or what would cause this ? Can it be related with my no-start ?

Help because I want to have a real RB ride !

lights on dash are a bat/ charging system problem. Do you know if the car had this problem before you swapped to RB? Did you swap from auto to 5 speed? the Auto lower harness has more plugs than the manual and the wires are routed through the plugs slightly different so that could cause you a problem. One of those wires is the white/red (I believe) alt charge wire, and that could deff be causing lights on the dash. If you wanna send me your harness I can track down the problem in a few hours and send it back. Cost would be minimal, maybe like $50 or so. I have done more of these harnesses than I can count, since RBs are what I do all day long, and I have extra harnesses here so I can just test it out against one of them quick.Up to you, either way, good luck, I hope you get your car rolling soon.

i been going though the same problem since last july 07. i did the swap over the weekend and it ran and started great for 3 days max and out of know where i been having several issues mostly to due with no spark, or a few plugs sparking, or too little of a spark.

2 things of cas, 2 ingitors, 5 mafs, 2 ecu's, re-wiring, 12 coils, 4 sets with differet spark plugs later and still have a problem. ugh

No the car was a manual , and both rb20 were manual too. Everything was working fine with the first RB20 .

The only wiring I re-did on the new swap is :the white-purple (dont know??), black-red(ecu)red (ecu too) black with purple stripe(fuel pump) which doesnt come on when I turn the key so I bypassed it...

Any specific wire in those 4 that could be related to the Daytime light and cluster to come on ?? Or better , related to the non-start problem ?

thanks for any help !

Yes they al could pretty much, your fuel pump wire should not be bypassed and the proper wire is black/pink.I have noticed this as a problem with alot of swaps even my own b4.Take out a test light and simply touch it to all of the wires above with the keys out and battery hooked up,if any of them have power then thats where your issue is,these wires should only have power with the key in the on position Not constant 12v.My issue was with how the guide I used said to hook up the white/purple wire....it was wrong after discussing with Carl H and hours at the 2 fsms I wired the car and it works flawlessly now.

Be careful with power routing you can cook your ecu.

It's been awile...what car is it going into???

My S14 I am pretty sure it went to the black/red ie: switched ign power wire. Some ppl hook it souly to the ring terminal on the fuse box.

But according to the s13 wiring guide you find whatever wire from the grey plug has 12v when the key is on.....0V when the key is off and still 12v when your attempting to start the car.Hook white purple there.

I hooked up the white\purple to one of the white wire under the fuse box ...I ll try something else...

I dont think that this would be the reason why i get a constant power to the dash ligt once I turned the key (even if I removed the key)

If someone has a specific wire that they wire to the infamous white\purple , go ahead !!

Holy **** guys I just spoon fed you the answer, that white wire is constant power straight from the battery.

Find the grey plug above the battery tray by the coolant bottle, take a multimeter and find the wire that has 12v with key on...12v when car is attempting to crank, and 0v with key off..and hook your white/purple there.

ok but i dont understand.. why must we guess which wire on the grey plug is the right wire?

why can't we just be told? or are some ka plugs different that why you telling us to use a meter to find the wire?

ok so the white wire from the fusebox is wrong thanks.

I dont get it, even though i have the white/purple to the fusebox white, i dont have any problems with constant power going on like lights on, dash lights light, or anything, with the key out and off. just no start.
