would explain why: 1) car is so hard to do burnouts in, 2) why it wont slide without a fight, 3) it left 2 tire marks last night, 4) the driveshaft was different than the one i got with the ca18 clip, 5) it looks exactly like the one on the pdm-racing website. just hard to believe it has one, i mean, its not like it should have one.

also, do the s13 abs and non-abs vlsd look different? or 89-90 and 91-94 look different? the one under the 91-93 super hicas s13 i found in the ymca parking lot last night had a different looking differential. had 2 drains on the back, whereas mine has one on the back and one on the side, then the filler ones higher up.

its wired, as ive always said, my 240sx is unlike any other, has the most fugged up list of options ive ever seen in my life. and it never ceases to amaze and confuse the hell out of me. ok im out, night all.

there should be a sticker on the driver's side of the rear cover that says "viscous lsd" or something like that

Quarter sized, rectangular sticker that reads, "Viscous LSD". I think you could get an LSD w/o ABS, but I think it was called the "towing" package or something stupid like that. I personally have never seen a LSD w/o the ABS sensor, but it suppose it's possible.

well, theres no sticker to be found. unless its on the top of the differential where i cant see it. it looks exactly like the one in this picture: http://www.pdm-racing.com/prod...e.jpg except, well, it isnt painted.

i have my doubts that one of the previous owners would have put a vlsd in it because i have been bumping into more of them and they dont seem like poeple that would do that. it does in fact spin both rear tires, as it was wet today and i had a witness verify it. would an open differential spin both tires equally if they were both getting equally little traction? i doubt it but it may not be out of the question. if it means anything, ive noticed that even though most of the turns i habitually slide the car around are left, both rear tires are wearing at the same rate.

I thought the only LSD equiped S13s were the 91-93 Super Hicas fastbacks and the canadian models down here. My friend has the canadian spec 240 with no power seatbelts and stock LSD.

Every other non hicas 240 ive seen doesnt have a LSD.

My diff cover looks like that and my car didnt have LSD. It does now :D

hm..then why does pdm have that picture and advertise vlsds? my car seems to show the characteristics of it. oh well, not too bothered, doesnt make too much of a difference when my clutch is so bad i cant get the power to the differential to begin with.

The sticker I'm reffering to is on the side casing of the differential and has nothing to do with the back cover. Also, unless you were somehow able to get an LSD w/o the Super HICAS handling package (like I said before, I've heard it was possible, but I've never seen it) you're rear cover would look like the one in the pic, but so does the stock rear diff cover. I kinda look at it this way, from my experience, if you have to wonder whether or not you have LSD, you probabally don't have it. But I've also driven 240's w/and w/o it, so I can feel the difference. The best test is to jack up the back of the car, put it in gear and then try and turn one of the wheels in the back. If it is hard to turn and the other wheel turns in the same direction, you've got LSD. If it's kinda easy to turn, and the other wheel turns in the opposite direction, you're a peg leggin' monster! (no LSD). Give that a shot and let us know.

Yup my friends canadian import 240 has vsld and its a fastback.

It also has KPH speedo, with mph #'s right under it, manual seatbelts and no a/c option, no Super Hicas.

I've been trying to get manual seatbelts from a Canadian S13 Coupe for years (litteraly), but I can't seem to find any online junkyards that are in Canada. I had a friend of mine that went up there for a vacation, and I was gonna have her steal me the phone book from the hotel, but she forgot. I may just have to make a trip up there or something. I hate my friggin auto seatbelts...

that's an R200 case and I have yet to see an open R200 here. Open diffs on Silvias are the smaller R180 type. Jack up the car, take off the parking brake an turn one of the wheels, the other tire should rotate in the same direction.

You can use S14 belts, but I think you have to rig them or something, not for sure really.
