So, for 47 years I have driven nothing but sticks. I know I drive a stick well but I do find that launching the car in first gear still requires more precision clutch work than it should, even with the ecu update. So, I notice that if the car idles at 1000 instead of approx. 700 the whole world is beautiful, it launches smoothly and strongly and the world is right. I know I would burn a little extra gas with a higher idle but does anyone know if it is possible to leave everything alone but raise the idle to 1000?

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum.

I don't think idle is adjustable on a 07 G. Maybe one of the techs will drop in and set the record straight. Welcome to NICO.

Welcome to NICO!!

I too am not sure if you can adjust the idle... but you can easily adjust the clutch following this write up

The G's clutch does take some getting used to.

It's possible with an ECU reflash or an engine management device like the UTECH or Greddy e-manage. Not sure it will help with the finicky clutch engagement though.

However...Try this in the below link. Made my clutch 1000x better!

Increasing idle rpm would be a violation of Federal Clean Air Act since emission testing was certified at a certain rpm. 1000 rpm would release 42% more carbon dioxide/HC/ CO/Nox per minute than 700 rpm and consume more gasoline.

And there you have it!! So if I read Q's statement correctly... it can be done... just not legally..
