I have been waiting for some time to get a chance to take an EV for a ride. The Nissan PR mobile mad e a quick stop in the DC area this past weekend. A friend of mine (insurance instructor) and I went first thing Sunday morning.

I also like the optional High Voltage (>400) DC charger (on certain trim levels) for commercial quick charging stations. Nissan is claiming 80% in about an hour. They mentioned several truck stop brands that are in talks to add flat fee (~$5...was the number that was given when pressed) quick chargers. When asked about the worst case scenario they say the first two years of recovery are included at no additional charge. As a short term plan the dead vehicle will be towed to a local charger. They mentioned companies where in development of vehicle mounted rescue chargers.

I look forward to watching this forum grow over the next few years

We have those chargers already in Japan. I think I read they were charging in 20 minutes or so.

The word is 30 minutes for the quick chargers. I have one on my 11' Leaf and have yet to use that big charging port, not even at the dealership yet. But that is the ulitmate way that this car will become totally useful.

Kudos to you for picking one up even with limited charging options.

I'm still a huge EV fan and would buy one in a second, not as much for the green factor, just an electric geek.

Well since I live in the Bay Area, land of tree huggers, not really a limited charging options :). If i lived somewhere else it would be bad, but when you pull up the Car Wings option on the nav screen it is crazy how many places exist already to charge.
