Sorry for the crappy image quality. Basically i took a self tapping bolt that was really sharp. Drilled a hole in an oil filter "socket" (the socket kept slipping by it self) Then i started the bolt with a hammer and finished it with a socket wrench. It came right off!

Why not use a set screw to put pressure on the filter so you don't have to actually puncture it and spill oil everywhere?

that would work too... actuially thats what i orignally intended. However the wall of the "socket" is really thin so you can't really get a bite on it with a bolt or anything.

Does everyone really have that bad of a problem with their oil filters? If so relocation kits should be purchased wholesale for everyone to get cheap.

Umm.

Don't try patenting it. I have the exact same thing in my toolbox. And I got it at AutoZone. I've been telling people to get it, but nobody listens.

The black socket thing wouldn't bite into the filter. I two and one was a little too small even to hammer on and the other one slipped.

It was torqued down so hard the metal at the base of the filter was tight against the block! Now it's a little past snug like i've run every other car i've ever owned.

yeah.. i bought one like that too for the knuckle heads that put on the filters. Like when buying a car from someone. Some ppl just don't know how to put filters on.. Maybe they never take em off.

Ha. quick story here. When i was 18 i purchased a 92 civic from some richy *****es. Anyways, I called them up said i would pick up the car the next day.. They said it would be ready.. Picked it up and the 24 yr old guy that owned it said he changed the oil and it was ready.. I said ok. gave him the check and went home. 2 hr drive. Got home and checked the oil. It was dirty and very high. I was like wtf? He said he changed oil.. So. I drained it and i had a 5 qrt. pan.. Well needless to say it overflowed by about twice that pan size. I don't think he ever changed oil. He just added the correct amount when changing oil. MORONS....
