16x7 off a 1997 Q45T. Supposed to be brand new takeoffs at the dealer with 0 miles. $457 including shipping. A little more than I wanted to pay but I liked the brand new aspect, better chance they should all run true. They are on the way. Now on to tires, I think that after reading the tire thread I will go with the Firestone SZ 50 EP. Tire Rack does not recommend any thing bigger than 225/55-16. Good news...that tire size is almost exactly the same height as the stock 15 so there are no speedo problems. I would go bigger if there are no fender interference or "squirming" issues with bigger sizes on the 7" rim. What do you guys think? I attached a picture of the wheels but this is the first time I did that so I hope it works. I have always loved this style wheel and it was only available one or two years, I believe they went to the 17" 5 spoke in 98 or 99, making it a little more unusual.

nice...post pics after you mount them. Also weight them before you mount tires on them so that we can start a stock wheel weight database.

Well, I could make a good start at that project as I own the stock 15" piepans, the 15" BBS and now these, I'll weigh them all and report back. I'm gonna be real dissapointed if these new ones weigh a lot more than the BBS, but realistically I am expecting them to weigh a little more than the BBS. They are the optional Touring wheel so they must be lighter than the standard 16. I tried to add another picture, but I guess you can only add a picture if you are starting a new thread?

Unfortunately, the BBS are going to be a LOT lighter. They are forged and the others are all cast. Cast rims are at least a pound per inch but usually more. Stock rims tend to be on the heavy side since they are made for durability and strength. For that reason, I am sticking with my 15" BBS.

You're probably right. I'm the original owner of this car and after so many years I just had to have something a little different and I wanted a bigger tire contact patch too. Theres no way I could justify dropping the money for new bigger BBS, they would be worth more than the car!! This seemed a fun way to upgrade the look a little with what are still supposed to be a set of brand new wheels, if I could not have found brand new I don't think I would have made the leap from the BBS.

245/50/16 is a good fit on those.

I have 255/50ZR16's with NO clearance problems, even with a 1" drop.

Hitman...No problem fitting either of the sizes on the 7"? If you've got the 255's why are you suggesting the 245?

Well, the 255 is a tad extreme.

But I love the way they look - No chance of "curbing" a rim, and there's quite a large footprint now!

I have had both sizes, and as long as you buy a good quality tire with a stiff sidewall, it's a nice fit.

I wouldn't say the 255s are extreme at all... I haven't heard mine rub yet, and the car rides and handles like it's on rails! Maybe a difference in brand? I've never been happier with a tire/wheel combination.

Heath - I concur. I love the look and feel of my 255's.

Take a look at the Falken Ziex's in that size - Smoking deal, and a great tire (I've got 5K on mine and LOVE them!)

Maybe the early FY33 are different, but 1999 those rims were 17x7.5. Since the stock were 16x7, I don't know why Infiniti would produce them in that style in the same size. Bettter check offset. I bet they are I30 rims.

The 245x40 16 SZ50 EP work great so far on the 16x7 rims.

Attached is a link to a 1999 Touring, THIS is the 17 inch wheel offered as the touring in 99. The wheel I bought was only offered in 97 and 98. I actually have a 97 Q45 brochure, which was one of the reasons I bid with confidence. The 97 brochure lists both standard and touring wheels as 16x7 with 215/60VR16 tires for both. I kinda remembered all this as I shopped a 97 touring heavily, even had a guest drive that lasted almost a week as they gave me the new car when my car was in for a long service. I think it may be a common misconception that these are I30 and that is why no Q guys bid on them. Having said all that I could still be misled by the sellers. But they did have good feedback, ultimately it's always a gamble on Ebay, you do your research and hope for the best.

So now I'v'e got four possible sizes to use1. 225/55/16 (standard suggested by Tire rack, and bigger than the touring tire that was originally on a 97 ( 215/60/16)2. 245/50/163. 255/50/164. 245/40/16Of the sizes suggested, the SZ50EP only appears to be offered in the 225/55/16 or the 245/50/16.Not much price difference, $129.00 vs. $137.00The deciding factor may be Tire Rack says the height of the 55 is almost perfect, within 1 mph error, so the 50 has got to be worse. Is there much visual appeal to going up to a 245/50 vs 225/55? And the one thing I DON'T want is groove following or wandering, I've more than enough of that with the Viper. 275/35/18x10 on the FRONT, 335/30/18x13 on the rear, that sucker changes lanes all by itself sometimes! So I'm leaning to the 225/55/16...........?

Just stay away from the 40-series. The Q needs more sidewall than that.

Actually, the overall diameter of the 255/50/16 is the same exact dimension as the stock tire size - no speedo error..

Visual appeal is night and day. Check Quella in Member's rides with 245/50's...

p.s. They are indeed Q rims. I am presently looking out my window at a 97 Q45t with those wheels.

The 97-98 I30t wheels are 16x6.5 and the identical looking 97-98 Q45t wheels are 16x7. Click here.

thats what they were 335-30's! I saw a viper at our local dealership and remember awwing over the tire size, I just couldn't remember how big the rear's actually were. I'm glad I know now because it was beginning to get to me.

I would like to verify that these are Q rims also as I have a set of them in my garage - just replaced them with 17's off of a 2003 350Z. I have Michelin 225/55/ZR16's on them and was very happy with the look, performance, and ride...
