I got it for $1200 plus shipping. overall I am very happy with my purchase, even though its missing the dash (wasnt gonna use it), shift knob, and all suspension. I did get a clutch pedal assy, it will work in my s13! (Auto to manual swap). Venus gave me a complete drive shaft, spare radiator, good smic, and gauge cluster ( was cut but needed to be lengthened anyway), and a digital climate control missing the cover plate ( renders it useless to me). I will be taking lots of pics and will have the swap on my brothers web page when im done. The site is TBA later.

Venus price 1200. Night7racing price 2295. Even DDX's overstock sale pits it at $1900.Why the markups?

Isnt the RB20DET quite cheap and common in Japan? Back me up on this on themadscientist please.

Make sure you pull off trans and check some things (like oils for shavings). Looks good bud. I assume you talked them down some for that price?

Removing the suspension sucks, so be happy that it didn't come with anything. It's just extra stuff to have to dispose of.

That sure looks like a 1-car garage... is that where you plan to do the swap? I just did mine in a 2-car garage, and we had barely enough room on the floor for 2 engines/trannies, 1 240SX, and 1 empty clip.

WE DID MINE IN A TWO CAR GARAGE WITH A 300ZX UP ON JACKSTANDS NEXT TO US. BUT WE UTILIZED THE DRIVEWAY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

DDX's is more than nights read this copied from DDX:

"500 Dollar retainer is applied to total purchase price." so $1900 + $500=$2400 plus shipping

Things that make you go hmmmmmmm??? I wont get on this. IF the original poster got a quality engine, it was money saved for other things......I used to be a venus supporter until Nismo241 had some problems with them. I still recommend them but I cannot stress enought he importance of gettign paperwork from those guys. Compression tests, leakdown, etc. IF you do this and get a good engine, by all means, save that money.

Well I'm not sure what kind of paperwork is needed... I got an invoice of my purchase, attached gauge cluster that read only 38,000 km (low miles IMO), and I am pretty sure that they do a compression test of the motor as the bolts to my coilpacks and the plugs themselves were already loosened. I'm not sure whats involved in a leakdown test so I can't vouch for that. I also popped off one of the valve covers and it looked brand new inside. Only real problem with venus is the typical dented oil pan, and possible other parts that you need to ask them to replace (which they do, just more of an inconvenience)

I do have to admit though if your looking for a CLEAN clip. ie no corrosion, no broken parts, no damaged front clip, and extras go with any other distributor, night, ddx, mckinney...

Well I have yet to do a comp test thogh the coils are loose and 175 is written across the cover... That was a very good answer night posted and I respect him for what he is doing. I bought from venus because IM cheap.... hehe. I will probably buy from night next time (when I finish school and have a job!) but right now im on a limited budjet and gotta work with what I have. Yes its a 1 car garage, I plan on taking the motor out and chopping up the clip before I even start the swap. I'll make it work.

Well, good luck to you. I would also be willing to pay a bit more for a nicer clip from a better importer than Venus. But not twice as much! If I had to pay that much, I would surely have turbo'd my KA instead.

Btw, although Venus said they did a start-up test on my clip, they definitely did not check compression.

Hopefully weather is good and you can do some work outside of the garage to get some more space. Here in Flint (where I am half the year) we are getting about 8+ inches of snow today. Take the clip to a scrap yard and they will pay a couple of cents per pound vs. a dump where you have to pay.

I assume Venus did a comp test on my old 20 (Hybrids motor), since it had no plugs at all when I got it. Mine didn't have a cluster, but had the dash, steering wheel and all (almost the opposite of yours).

My only complaint was the trans was blown, but they sent me another one for free and split the shipping cost without too much hastle. I figured the oil pan was minor (not a huge dent), and didn't think they would have replaced that. This was almost 2 years ago, so now I see they do replace the oil pan if it's in poor condition.

Good luck bud, and feel free to ask us if you have some issues putting it in the car. What mounting method are you using?

Wow, that's cheaper than building a KA-T. The clip looks empty, but if all the necessary stuff are there, then it's a good deal. :ylsuper

well I plan on unbolting the engine cradle and swapping the rack over to the skyline cradle.. bolt it back to the s13 chassis and hopefully flip the trans mount around and bolt that on with the proper shim.( if everything goes as planned). Only thing I dont like is the gauge cluster harness is cut... and one module box that I dont know what it is yet is a little damaged due to the accident. but may not be needed? dunno yet. I will get started on the swap as soon as I get my s13 to pass smog. High NOx!

This is sam from Venus, and I wanted to respond to what you had just said. Night, how can you claim that the front clilps are 1800, however we haven't sold them at that price for months, secondly they are listed at 1500, however we do have them on a monthly specially. I would also like to know, how you can sit and talk some much talk, do you really think that the people you "talk" about don't know what you do on these forums? Cameron, sorry but you are completely wrong, generally when something occurs on forums, or with a situation, you out of all people should know that everyone talks to everyone. Despite our customers informing us of your "bashing", we've still hesisted in saying anything simply because we didn't think it was worth it. TO THE CUSTOMERS THAT WERE DISATISFIED WITH VENUS/ HAD A PROBLEM, We are sorry, I would like to think that things have gotten better with our policy and customer service. LASTLY...I would like EVERYONE to know that Night himself has called us a couple of months ago asking about our clips and that he was interested in the RBs, both RB25 and RB20s. This isn't the first time he has bashed Venus and then later called us. I truely believe that the things that leave your mouth, many of the things that you say are lies. I've noticed that you bash us and enter sly comments to those who have recently purchased from us, yet you fail to mention that you yourself even give us a call about ordering front clips. I remember sending you an email myself with the photos of an RB. I would also like everyone to know that, we at Venus, contrary to what is said, try our best to keep our customers Happy. We are interested in doing a type of "survey or feedback" to get an idea of how we can make things easier and more efficent for both our customers and ourselves. Alot of people probably think that this is another form of advertisement, it's not, basically its me, a person who loves the automotive world, loves nissans, loves drifting and loves highperformance engines, expressing my opinions and personal thoughts. Of course I will take all your comments into consideration when I'm at work to make things better.

If you have any suggestions or feedback, or even a comment or two, you can reach me at the office. 916-386-2286

Thanks

Oh..and I forgot to mention, Cameron, you know nothing of our process in bringing over our clips, engines, etc. In my personal opinion, if I remember correctly from what I've heard about YOU, your not completely honest about the "process" in which you obtain both your information as well as your clips/engines.

Booya go Venus! I'm definitly going to get a clip from you guys if i end up going JDM power. You guys just seem more professional and established and everyone i've heard thats done business with you has been dealt with pretty well.

1200 for an RB20 front clip is an awesome price indeed keep up the good work.

Although posting some prices on your website would really be nice. If you guys have the time to keep that website a little more updated and with current pricing that would be great. What i would like to see is a little bit about each clip, a pic or two of it, the mileage, and the price for that clip as well as a way to buy that exact one. thats gonna be a lot of work but it would sure be cool.

I'm really sorry about that..Even Our links don't work...correct? They work when they want to and don't when they don't feel like it..hahahah... The gentlemen who does our webpage..obviously hasn't been doing what he is supposed to be doing...we're just gonna have to get on his butt about that...I hope that we'll have the website up soon..again..sorry

Just dont turn it into some flash/java nightmare that everyone seems to do. I really like its simplistic ways, its just hard for me to truly consider buying a clip that has CALL for a price and the same pic i've been seeing for months. Not every clip is created equal, a pic, mileage and a price on each one would be great. especially for a guy like me who still cant make up his mind about what motor to get.

I'm no business expert, but more time spent on website details could curb a lot of small question phone calls and emails from people. It could be a timesaver.
