So I was at school registering, when my friends and my cousin somehow talk me into drag racing this dude with a H23 powered prelude. I'm like okay, I should be able to hand this sucka. So we drive out and go ahead to race. Well it was a best 2 out of 3 race. So my cousin's friend tells me to let him win the first race and then we hussle him for more money (more than $5, which was the prize money). So I do. During the the first race I realize I can take the sucka easily if I push it past 5500rpms, as I was only going to 5000rpms and he was only ahead of me by 1 car. So during the second race we blast our way out and I go to 6200rpms and shift to second, right before I hit 6200rpms in second I hear a loud pop coming from my engine bay. So I finish the race anyway not pushing it all the way, he got me by 3 cars. So I go to check my engine bay. Well it turns out the all the piping from the intercooler and the crankcase breather and all sorts of other turbo related stuff had popped off. I guess it got too hot and the hose clamps had lost grip on the hoses. Bah, oh well, next time. By the by, I'm on all stock Redtop with only a 3 inch custom exhaust with a cat which will be changed out pretty soon.

Prelude's are quick stock. They run low 15's and hi 14's easily with just I/H/E. There quite a few of them around here that auto cross, and are quite successful at it as well.

Your SR should have ate him up either way I think. Preludes are heavy pigs. Get the car fixed and whip his ***...

H22's deserve respect. i too would like to know what mods the ludes have.. I am sure he is heavier than you by a few 100lbs.

Stock SR's arent invincible.. bu tyour racing and only reving to 5k? take it to 6800.. they like a good workout now and then.

Great another addition to the prelude mythos... They are not that fast at all... Fix the IC pipe and wax him.

I hate those cars.

preludes not a bad car just to me its another honda... and the h22a is one of honda's better if not the best motor they have in the U.S. in my opinion, still dont see one taking a sr20det if both are pretty much stock.

and what no ducktape to patch things together? silver fix it all rocks :D

I'm a honda fan. I'm a B series guy. The H22 is alright but the car is to heavy. And really the soul of honda is a ripping high revving HP motor. The H22 is not

I got an h23 prelude (formerly a boosted F22)

H23's are very quick off the line if you've got good tires, and can hang with an h22.

the newer ludes are heavier (my gf has an SH)

my friend has a '90 prelude, b20a5 engine. not too bad of a car. I own him from a stoplight 'cause he doesn't have as much torque. but after that I don't pull on him very much.

oh well, my car is more fun in the rain.

haha.. I guess thats all my fault.. I simply assumed that 'h23' was a typo.. how the heck could even a bone stock SR loose to a non-vtec h23??

Wow no offense but I would feel really embarassed if I were you. For one I dont know what mods the lude had but if it was auto it was about high 15's low 16's(with intake) if it was manual ive got a friend whos ran a 15.3 with just intake. Very impressive for a h23, his brother has a h22 an hes lookin at low 15's stock, depending on driver an traction. Now personally Ive beaten H23's with my stock KA. An preludes are pretty much the only honda I associate with so my info isnt bs.

Well here's his mods I/H/E and I lost $5. I'm bone bone stock. First, it was about 103 out and i've been driving all day (it was around 1-2). My hose clamps weren't tight enough I found out, stupid heat made them expand. I know I could've owned him, damn. Oh well, I'm getting a boost controller and FMIC soon. I'll make him wax my car next time, or have him put his girlfriend up for bets. Oh and I'm on 205/40/17 all around so I wasn't getting ANY traction at all through 1st and 2nd gear. :D

I don't why you guys really look down to honda's. Sure civic's but of than that the clean looking integra's, prelude's and some civic's with swaps could be pretty decent. I i have 2 friends with integra LS's and one hit a 14.72 with and the other a 14.81 both with CAI, exhaust, header, short shifter and cam gears but they both have no rear seats or lining in the truck (they still got the spare and a jacK). I windows are tinted so people can't see that they are gutted until you get close. I also no another guy with a 91 civic si swaped to the B18B1 (integra ls engine) and that thing hit a 13.9 with CAI, exhaust and headers. The all clean nice rides thats putting out some decent numbers with street tires.

O and all my friends cars that i just pointed out are going turbo. sure they bought headers and other stuff they don't need when they go turbo but the didn't want to be driving around a low-mid 16 second cars till they have enough to go turbo.

yeah going turbo for the first 2 weeks their engines hold up without proper sleeving when they run crazy amounts of PSI with a dinky little intercooler.

the only problem i see in this situation is that you didn't use JDM hose clamps. USDM clamps will never work well on a JDM machine.
