be sure to properly prep your dash kit... if you don't5 you'll be sorry... i have a write up on here somewhere.. you need to prep each piece 3-4 times with something like 3M prep solvent.. NOT DENATURED ALCOHOL... if you've used armor all on your dash, you may need to increase it to 7-8 times per piece... entire process should take ~1.5 - 2 hours to do it properly, especially if you've used armor all..

here's the proper way to install a dash kit

I installed the vent and door pieces today, the center dash pieces have a small gap between the top of the nav system and the top vents so i dont know if i'll use those pieces but the others add a nice accent.

heres a pic of my tint job:http://img77.imageshack.us/img...4.jpg

heres the kit:

I've gotta be honest, based on the pictures the dash kit looks terrible. It does not blend in at all and looks like a bunch of stickers on a factory dash. I would take them off.

i think the vent pieces blend in well but the center dash kit wont, thats why i dont think i'm going to put it on.

the brush aluminum isnt supposed to blend in, it adds a nice contrast to the black.

I actually think it looks nice. However, the cupholders in the back don't look that great.

Sucks that it only covers the top of the cup holder and doesn't follow the curve down the side.

Regarding the cupholders, that would have to be a modled kit, not a flat kit.. flat kits can only bend a little bit, not 90 degree angles like that..

regarding the kit itself, I just hope you took my advice and prepped the dash properly...4-5 time per piece.. and then, hopefully you heated the car and the dash pieces via a hair dryer and by using the car's natural heater to warm the car up... if you did not do this correctly, your kit WILL start to fall apart after a few weeks, months, or within the next year...

i think it looks nice BUT i do agree about it being stickers not such a good thing. i also have black interior and want brushed aluminum but in the distant future ill try and just take my car to a shop and see if they can paint it like the steering wheel. the steering wheel is also plastic (around the buttons, the silver trim) but its painted aluminum very nicely, thats what i want. this kit is a step in the right direction so i give it

oh ya and don't forget the pics, can't wait to see how it looks

the pics i posted is the extent of what i will do-vents only.

The dash kit has a gap and it wont blend into the dash b/c the nav area is not recessed, i wish they would have just done it up with the carbon fiber from the factory.

I agree it looks like cheap aluminum stickers that is not cut properly or molded well. In my opinion it makes your nice looking interior look cheap and riced out. If they are stickers i bet they are not going to hold throughout the extremes of the seasons well. It will come unstuck and just look plain old bad. See if you can return it for a refund and look at something else if you must change its looks.

you guys keep saying stickers.. they aren't stickers, they are usually a type of urethane with 3M backing on it... if installed properly, these kits can last over 5 years if not abused and if they are protected from the sun.. if not installed properly, they won't last a year!

I've ordered a couple of samples and they look like paper with soft transparent plastic over it. I don't think I'll order any, I'm going custom with glass and paint when I get to learn how to do it

Yes thats true, but i know i have seen some cheap versions on hear that resemble stickers. If you are going to do a dash kit you had better make sure it is good quality before you start sticking crap on your car. As far as hiroprotagonist2005's dash kit, it looks crappy. Where did you get it, that way i know not to go there.

Hear is a site that i have heard good things about.http://www.wooddashexperts.com...=7913

P.S. rjdmmfl1 got his dash kit off an ebay seller and his looks really good. So Rob if you can, post up a link to the ebay page that would be helpful. I have been searching threw ebay for a pic of your car (like you said) but can't find it, thanks

agreed, there are some cheaper versions out there... but some of them are REAL brushed aluminum, some are real BA with a clear coat over them for a high gloss look, and then, very few of them are paper... actually, I've seen the thin cheap ones and you're right, they are crap

if you go to ebay and put in altima coupe dash kit, you see it

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

again, if its a good kit, its all in the install... alphapig bought one from the same ebay dealer, and he said his started peeling after a couple weeks or so... I installed mine about 9 months ago, and it still looks perfect! Again, I installed mine the correct way , cleaning each part about 5 times, warming up the parts and the car during the install... took about 2 hours

this is what it looked like when first installed, this is what it looks like as of one month ago when I took this picture

Yea your ebay guy seems like he is going to be my best bet. I was really thinking about painting the parts, but if he is only charging like $160 for the full kit, then I sold. Every other site I have been to, charges like $300 and they only sell the full kit, that includes alot of crap I don't want.

Like this kit I found at http://www.dashkitspecialties.com/NNAC08F.htmlThis kit has a piece for everything and I just dont want to spend $324 for all the dumb parts i dont want.

yes, many of the kits are very expensive... also, most of them are for the factory stereo, or factory navigation console... if you have an aftermarket double din unit, NONE of these other kits will fit the center console area... I was able to send my actualy console to the ebay guy, and he custom made a double din opening specifically for me... none of the other companies would do that for me, and that's whyI went with him over the other companies!
