So its true! As I am typing this, there is a mean looking s13 hatch sitting out front of my house, and its MINE! ALLL MINEEE!!!!!!

I had quite an adventure getting it here today, as this isnt the car that I thought I was going to buy. I posted a thread yesterday about this car that I *thought* was going to be a good deal. I called the guy up and he said "no rust whatsoever," and a bunch of other things that turned out to be totally untrue (pictures are coming). Needless to say I turned the first car down pretty quickly, and I left feeling pissed off after having driving 3 hours to go see it.

On the way back I pass by Bellrica, MA- a town that I remember had a bunch of 240s for sale. A quick call to my girlfriend and I've got the number of the most promising deal- a 92 SE hatchback with 150k miles (eh..) in PERFECT condition. Only problem is, he's asking $2600 and I've only got $1700 in my pocket. Eh, might as well try, right?

So I show up at this guy's doorstep and he lets me and my buddies look over the whole car. I compression test it, check everywhere (and I do mean EVERYWHERE) for rust, and scope out other possible problems. Everything looked friggin perfect. I pull out a fat stack of 100 dollar bills and pitched the biggest sale I could, explaining why he should drop the price by so much. He was a stickler at first, but in the end he caved, and I picked up the car for $1800!!!! (I had to borrow $100 from one of my friends, but dayum!)

I drove it home with my buddies trailing close behind because I didnt have any kind of licence plate or registration (I did have insurance though). I made it almost 150 miles with no smokeys sniffin me out! This car must be good luck, huh?

Heres the rest of the stats of the car, and of course pictures to make all this reading worthwhile:

-92 SE Hatchback-150k miles-PERFECT condition EVERYWHERE-4 new tires all around-new struts and allignment-all 4 brakes completly rebuilt last year-top of the line JVC head unit-all records and receipts dating back to the original purchace(seriously, this guy is a hardcore neat-freak)-Blueish-silver color. EHHHH I dont like it that much, but it's do-able (see pics)-full alarm system with keyless entry-did I mention everything is PERFECT?

okay okay, enough reading. time for the PICS!

(my first fill up. awwww)

I'm REALLY glad to be a part of the 240 family in earnest now.... I've been waiting for this for what seems like forever, and it's already starting to pay off. :ylsuper

oh hell yeah, long drives are in the plans - once I get the thing registered. I'm already behind $100 in debt to my friend, and I still have to pay taxes/reg fees etc to get it on the road. I cant wait though. Tomorrow is wash and wax day, with fluid changes to boot. You're right about the pinstripes too I think... they're scheduled for removal tomorrow also. YES! TOMORROW IS WORK ON MY 240 DAY!

I donno how I got the guy to break down and sell it so cheap. I knew myself that the car had been for sale for almost 5 months now (I looked at it way back when it first went for sale), and I also knew that he had a small driveway and he wanted it out. I showed him the benjamins and thats all she wrote I guess.

More pics coming tomorrow when it's light out!

Your car looks damn good espcialy for the year and the price, great buy man. Just to let you know those stripes that you plan on taking off have more than likely been on that car for a long time. When stripes have been on a vehical that long they tend to burn an out line in the clear coat of the finsh, more than likely when you take them off your are going to be able to see where they were very plainly. It helps that the car looks to have been garaged and regularly waxed so it may not be to bad. Just FYI.

Well done, Fizzy!

That's a beautiful 240 - I personally like that color better than any other color (my Civic was almost the identical shade).

Leave the pinstripes alone and get to maintenancing that bad girl!!! Woo HOOO!!!!

Congrats. Definitely be careful with those pinstripes- heat can help on the metal panels, but they're a real pain on the bumpers- as evidenced by my quarter-sized chunk of missing paint on the rear.

THANKS GUYS!! Ahhhhh it feels so good to finally be driving the car that I've been thinking about for so long. I got myself 20 day temp plates today, so needless to say I'll be driving it NON STOP.

...and DAYUM.. $22.00 to fill the tank with 89? yikes, my saturn only took $11 or $12. Oh well. :D
