I just got back from vacation in Florida and was super stoked I got to drive my car again. I dropped off my friend at her house this morning and we had lunch. Then we hear her mom yelling that my friend's dad hit my car So I run outside. I take a look from the front and my Stillen fascia looked alright (I was most concerned about it) and I look around the corner to the driver side fender and I see the damage... I was pissed, but kept it cool because we are close and I knew they would take care of it. But it looks like I am going to be replacing my fender again (I hit it about a year ago)

So, maybe I will have my fascia repainted (first shop didn't do a good job at all so nows the time to fix that), I might even have it two toned the way I wanted, and maybe if I'm lucky I can get the vented fenders

But this means I'm most likely going to have this gash in my car for the SoCal meet coming up this Saturday because I really doubt it will be fixed by then.

Here are the pics

Sorry for your car. But congratulations on handling it like a man, you kept your kool. That is difficult to do, but, friendship is more important than a car.

Hats off to you

Damn Rob. that sucks. It's cool that you handled it like a man. Like desertdragon said dude "friendship is more important than a car." Well atleast you get to drive the car. Even if it has some scratches. I haven't driven my car in about 2 months and will prob be 1 more (hopefully not). Man I hope Tim (SFR) gets those DAMN parts he ordered. Talked to him on Friday and he was pissed that they hadn't got in yet. Well I will be there this SAT in my 05 Frontier.

Thats sucks. You said that your Stillen Fascia look alright. Unless I am looking at these pics wrong, it looks pretty scraped up where it meets the fender.

I think your payoff is way more than mine though Ricky

More info soon on what is going to go on with my car.ED Fenders are only like $25 more than OEM so my dilemma is if I should buy the ED fenders (in that case I would be buying two instead of one). I don't know, I have some stuff to figure out

Just a heads up ( that I ironically received in another thread this morning) , some members may have had some fitment issues with the ED fenders.

It's pretty scraped, but can seems like it can be buffed out.

Thanks for the info, ya me and Loop almost traded fenders and we had some fitment issues as well but it wasn't bad, just at the time I wasn't having it. But if they were going to be brand new I could deal with it

Maybe you guys can help me out, this is my first car and this is my first accident.

My friends parents insurance person is going to come out and check the car in a few days. Now after they inspect and everything is good to go. Do I get quotes from different shops and send that to my insurance company ???

And if I do, should I be looking at the shop that has the highest estimate or the lowest. I want to get the most out of this incident so I can hopefully have enough to get the ED fenders but I don't want the money to come out of my friend's family's pocket. Do they just pay the deductible and insurance takes care of the rest ???

Thanks much

u go get quotes and say u would rather go threw ur dealership to do the repairs cus they are trusted by u and u do all ur stuff threw them. then they'll do what they did to me... charge them for a new bumper, a new fender, and painting to color match the hood, door, mirror, and new bumper. then dont match the door, and dont match the hood, ur on creases so u cant notice the color diff IF there is one. and u can then keep the money lol- that way ur chick is now payin for at least the next 5 dates- the bumper is up to u- i'd just get a new one an sell this one or sumthin lolor just bondo it lmfao but pls paint it after

thats what i did lol

oh and a new wheel- which is like $591 lol...

regardless- the most important thing is to make sure ur alignment isnt off- which it probly is. so do that first or u'll bald ur tire. and make sure the ins co puts that in as a reason. u were hit in ur fenderpanel AND ur wheel. so its off, and u want it all back to new condition.

dealership ftw cus they'll charge the most lol

Ya my friend got hit in her civic and pretty much has a whole new front end now.

So a question I have is if I say I am going through the dealership and get the quotes, am I going to be receiving a check from the insurance company to fix my car ??? Or is this all intangible money that I will never see the leftovers from ???

And I don't think my alignment is off but it may be, as far as I can tell it's fine. I would let go of the steering wheel while driving and my car doesn't pull any which way but I'd still like it to be checked out.

Thanks for the info/suggestion/advice man

Ok so my friend's parents talked to their insurance carrier today and their insurance people gave me a call (I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number) but they left me a message with info about to claim and everything.

Since I'm under my father's insurance he's probably going to talk to them since I have no clue what to do so that will be taken care of tomorrow.

Good news however, since I was parked in front of their house I guess it was considered their property and they don't have to pay their deductible. I was wondering about this because I was half asleep when they told me and I thought it was a dream (I've been having weird dreams lately) but I verified it and ya, no money out of their pocket so I'm pretty stoked

I need their insurance to look at my car first and then I need to go get the damage estimated. I should know if I'll have enough for the fenders by the end of the week

Got the estimate today$1300

and that's for:New fenderUsed tireWheel well liningHeadlight (it might be broken)Paint (bumper, rim, fender)and about 12 hrs labor.

They can't tint my headlight though, so it would look goofy as hell with one tinted hahaha

So I'm going to try and buff out my bumper, buy a new fender, have it painted and get a new tire. I think after that I will be good and if I can't buff out the bumper I will have it repainted.

thats cheap... and forme i had an incident i was a lil tipsy and was double parked but never move the shifter to P i had it on D and i let go of the brake pedal i was looking at the my phopne for some directions and all i hear was a loud boom and i was me hit the other car. since i had a couple of drinks i took off and when i looked at my car the headlight fender and bumper were F***d up .... i know i did wrong but i didnt wanted a DUI i rather pay out my own pocket. well i took it to a few shops and they estimated like 3500+ Labor and parts so i called NIssan dealer and just the headlight cost $1192.22 thats cause it has the OEM HIDs fender 300 and bumper 350 or so. those fenders are designed to break the headlamp incase they are hit fenders cant take damage... IMO ILL post a pic later

No good man. It seems like you hit that car a lot harder than just letting go of the brake. I didn't think that the HID headlights were any different than the halogen ones though, same housing and everything isn't it ???

I've done my share of drunk driving and I will never do it again. Luckily I never hurt anybody, but it's a decision I grew out of. I don't want a DUI and therefore I don't drink and drive. As regarding the hit and run If I was that scared of getting caught I would have left a note with info and then booked it. That's pretty f**ked to make someone else pay for your poor judgement.

Not trying to bash you or anything I just don't agree with your decisions

I used to think this also... but I took two of them side by side and looked at the inside housing.. indeed they are different. Different array of vertical reflective panels inside the housing... this is why the cutoff beam pattern isn't exactly perfect in the non-HID equipped headlights when you throw an HID kit in there... it looks good, but there are scattered light rays if you look at the pattern up close to a wall...
