so im thinking about getting an apexi n1 evo cat back for my 1990 240sx, and it has a ka24e and i was looking for a bolt on cat back and i know i can get one made but it'll take too long and i dont trust the muffler shops around here. so i went to summit racing and i found the apexi exhaust kit there under my year make and build, and they say its universal and it will fit the vehicle but im cocerned it might be the wrong one. i dont know weather there talkin about the "DE" motor. i wanted to know sense there both the same displacement just ones dual over head i wanted to know if could still just bolt it up with minor problem if so. i just dont know if the cats diffrent or the down pipe is longer etc.. dose anyone know anything about that?

whats wrong with that post...But I think you need to ask if the sohc (single overhead cam) is the same as the dual as to if the exhaust will mount the same. So as the question...Are the SOHC and DOHC ehxaust interchangable without modification. You have a sohc and are afraid to get a dohc exhaust for fear of it not fitting... search for your answer on google and in the upper right hand corner in the search bar for answers in these forums. It's ok I can see that you are new so just make sure you search or the flaming flamers will piss you off. sorry couldnt answer your Question b/c I honestly am not familiar with that aspect. hopefully someone can help you with that one. I seriously and permanently damaged my hearing by having my 3in Nvidia catback on my sohc. And my friends ebay cat back was louder yet mind made more hp.

Seriously it added about 7-10hp max. And got me followed and pulled over way too many times.

Don't do it. Get a BRM 2.25in or 2.5in cat back or get one made with a giant resonator and good muffler.

I think if you are searching through summit and you don't specify full cat-back system in your search you get results for just the tips which are "universal."

cat-back exhausts are chassis specific, not engine specific. a cat-back for an s13 will fit hatches and coupes with ka24e/ka24de/sr20det/sr20de/ca18de/ca18det.

thats pretty much the answer i was looking for. because i know exhaust manifold for both engines are diffrent but i didnt know if that also ment that the cat bolt up and the down pipe would be the same. when i was goind through summit, when it says universal its says there for 89-94 blah blah blah, but i was alittle sceptical becuse i work in a delaership and i know how it is to put on after market stuff and i know apexi is a good company but i also know bolt up dosent always mean bolt up, i am planning to a sohc turbo further along the road im getting the car painted right now and i have to replace the water pump cuase its on it way out but im just planning for the future. the biggest reason why im replacing it is because my whole exhasut is rusted and fallin apart last week the tailpipe and muffler fell off so its neccary. and im also replacing the cat for alittle extra measure, because if the whole exhasut is fallin apart i can only imagine what shape the cat is in.
