It is black, its just the way the flash hit the engine dressing, made it look kinda charcoal in color.Veriest1 wrote:And what was done to the fan shroud? Just some paint? IIRC all the ones I've seen have been black.
Hmm so what was he before you got the car. Hehehe just giving a hard time. Looks great. You are one lucky person to get an s14 from someone thats not entitled to you (more jokes sorry). Take care of the car and goodluck with the rest.NSR240sxe wrote:Me and the most amazing guy ever!!Isn't he wonderful
I was getting ready to ask that, I think everybody's car here could use a good engine bay bath.PoorManQ45 wrote:Jerry: WHat did you use on the engine bay?
Was it mostly just wiping/scrubbing it down? Or did you use some kind of chemical that took most of it off?

The engine bay took a lot of work. I've got probably 3 hours into it as it was extremely dirty (but just like any other used car out there). To clean it up I sprayed the engine down with engine degreaser, let it sit a few minutes and then hosed it off with hot water. I did that 3 times. I then lifted the car up, pulled all the splash shields off and went through about 5 cans of brake parts cleaner to tidy up the underside of the engine bay, it was caked with gunk and grime. After that I went back to the topside and I used a product called Dissolve All to break up all the deposits of oil/dirt/grime/whatever and did some scrubbing, I used almost a full bottle of this. Then I hosed down the engine bay again with hot water. After that I dried it off and sprayed the engine compartment down with a silicone based engine dressing. Normally I would have gone way more indepth and used paint cleaners and waxes on the firewall and inner fenderwells but time was against me. Regardless, it made a HUGE turn around and looks fantastic.kckouki wrote:I was getting ready to ask that, I think everybody's car here could use a good engine bay bath.
