I Got my a/c working on my car today along with a bunch of electronic goodies installed.

I wired the blue/green wire from the compressor to the blue wire on the harness where the old compressor went.

next I extended the lines from the a/c relay (blue/orange and blue/green) to a switch.

This way it bypasses the ECU all together because it would have been a wiring nightmare...i tried tracing all the wiring back to the ECU but i got lost so i just opted for this way.

filled with 2 cans of 134a freon and voila COLD AIR! Its REALLY nice to have cold air in time for the summer!!!

i also got my apexi s-afc2, turbo timer, pivot headlight controller installed to they look and perform sweet!

Took about a week but now its all done! !!

somehow the idle compensated

like when i turn on the a/c idle goes down to about 650rpm then raises back up to 800rpm where it should be. i didnt even mess with the ECU

Yes very nice. How much did you pay for the A/C lines and how did you run them? like stock? back on the firewall and the other from the front?

Props! My friend who is buying the RB20 240 is a minimalist kinda guy, the AC and PS stuff was all taken off cause he didnt want the weight or the hassle of making it work. I'm glad you got it setup. I might keep AC on my swap, with some tips from you it shouldnt be too hard.

Speaking of A/C, has anyone seen the specs for the RB20DET compressor, specifically the oil capacity? I have the R32 engine manual, and although it tells how to troubleshoot the A/C, there is no mechanical information for the A/C.

hmm, none of thoose links work. I'm curious about this to because I'm about to have a rb20 powered 240 with no A/C. No A/C in Georgia in the summer time = hell on earth.

This post is so old no wonder the links dont work guys. Deal with the heat I mean be a man. AC is for girlfriends not me. Now power steering I can't do without but AC I can. I live in NC its pretty hot here too. Thats what windows and a sunroof is for. Although when it's raining and still hot it kinda sucks. At least I'm dating a girl that likes windows more than AC but I'm of the lucky few.~ANDREW~

I thought it was the pressure switch that was the issue. Without that working wont the compressor just burn up in no time. I guess there are plenty of compressors people give away after doing swaps.

yeah we talked abou this on a few different forums and I got all the answer needed. Basically yes with no pressure switch it won't cut off and will freeze up and burn up the compressor. So you can either have an AC shop put you in for you or use the R33 climate control. I've never seen or heard of this being accomplished but I'm going to go for it. See what Jon P explained to me is. The KA's ecu has the controls for the AC, and the R33 ecu doesn't and the climate control alone controls the AC. I live in Florida where it is 90+ degrees BUT the thing people forget about is the humidity, its sucks sooo bad going out after a fresh shower and you start to sweat like a cold bottle of water before you get to your car. I try my best not to use AC on my car now but there are those days where it is a must.

I brought back this link from like 2 years ago because i wanted to know if anyone had the working link, or pictures of the wiring and lines. let me know

Just a comment about how to get the idle to rise when the a/c is turned on.

I have an old D21 pickup that I did a KA24 swap on, it originally had a NA20 so there were a lot of changes to make.

My solution was to tap into the idle solenoid for teh power steering which raises the idle when you turn the wheel hard over at low speeds. When the clutch on the A/C is energized it also goes to the solenoid via a diode to prevent the clutch from being activated by the steering pressure switch if the A/C is not on.

It works well and can probably be done to the RB20 although I havent checked the wiring diagram. Just a thought.

I am really sorry to yet again bring this thread back to life, but I am really interested in this topic. I was wondering if anyone had saved the pictorial that FrostedFlakes did. If anyone has this write up or any more information about it, pelase post it. Thank you very much and sorry again for the rebirth.

Would it be the same idea for the RB25, or at least something similar? Because that is what I am looking for.
