Floyds13. Just got his car turboed a little over a month ago. I got osme pics of install but none of the finished product. Going to try to get some tomorow. Anywayz his IC piping was made of 6 pipes so today he went to the exhaust shop and had it joined together. Now he just has 2 pipes. Said his car started to run rich, smoke, idle strange, etc. When to go see what my knowledge of my KA-T could do for him....

Sitting there looking over his recently finished piping and said "Damn, how many mile shave you driven" he said "about 40 or so why?" His lower radiator hose was disconnected and not one drop of fluid/water anywhere.Put it back on tightened it up, went and got fluid and fired her up. Seems this KA-T lives to see another day. Says his temp gauge never went high. Thank God he never hit boost.....

Anyone else have similiar incidents? Reminds me of my friend who came ot my house after changing his oil, never put his oil cap on...what a mess.

Long long ago I had a Chevette. Drove it from Knoxville to Indy. On the way home, stopped in Lexington for a fill-up. While I was there, I topped off the oil.

Left the oil cap off, lying on the battery. As I went around the on-ramp (clover leaf ramp) I hear "bbbddrbdrbdrrrringtttt!" I pull over to see what happened, realized the oil cap was off.

Walked a couple miles to the AutoZone and bought a cap (young, didn't know that I could have driven it). Walked back to the car, put the cap on and realized that the cap had fallen into the cooling fan, shearing every blade off it.

Drove the car hastily to the AutoZone. No fan. Called all the local parts houses. No fans.

Guy at the AutoZone said he was from Indy and wanted to help a fellow Hoosier out. Called the local salvage yard, sourced a fan, lent me his truck and I went to pick it up...perfect match! Bolted it on, drove back home to Knoxville, got chewed out by my dad because I should have known that I could drive on the interstate without a fan.

Yeah. Those were the times, right there.

i remember this one kid with a kat who drove his car to put it in the HIN show and it bogged out and died. he had it towed to a local shop that goes by the name of enjuku for them to find out whats wrong with it. they couldnt find out what it was so a good ol' nico member came to help him out. put GAS in the tank and it fired up!

haha that's a good story, too!

Just wondering, how in the heck do you run out of gas??? I understand things like a malfunctioning sending unit in the tank, or a faulty gauge in the dash, but if it all works, how do you do that???

Too funny, man. Glad all the cars mentioned in this thread ended up ok.

iim voting faulty gauge in the dash. My stinkin' fuel gauge is broken and I never really know how much is in my tank until the light comes on which is scary because I drive mostly on the highway. Anyone from central florida will tell you highway miles here means parking lot miles. So to be stuck on I4 downtown with the gas light on is not a good situation.

And now for my contribution to the post:Im drawing a blank, but Im sure there will be more.

hey lunchbox, if youre talking about your s14 gas gauge being broken i have a working one that you can have for free! i got a kouki cluster for free from a friend and swapped it over into my zenki cluster last night, so i have a gas gauge thats going to collect dust. if you want you can come pick it up, or when i get my car running we can meet up and ill give it to you. i live in college park btw.

well when i had first went ka-t, my boost was coming on at about 4000 rpm. so it would pull like an N/A all the way and then bam, into hyperspace the car went. needless to say, the car was driven like that for about a month or two till my friend's mechanic was looking over my setup. well as he was checking the mani and turbo, he asked me when my boost comes on and he seemed sort of surprised as i dont run a t3/t4 or anything big. well he ran back into his shop and brought out a vacuum cap and a zip tie.......................apparantly the T on the compressor had 2 ports to it. one went to the internal wastegate and the other was venting to the atmosphere...............huge boost leak lol. so i ended up going from the laggiest str8 t3 ka-t setup in the world to insta-boost.

His gas gauge was on E....... We checked for fuel and spark. And I wa arguing with the guy from enjuku, syaign that there should be wet fuel on the injector. I mean there wa sno moisture whatsoever and it wa a cold engine with no spark attached. There was a fine mist of fuel. And he went to get his voltmeter so I just stood back and watched. He left to go home, and I started doing the basic diagnostic again....
