I'm working on a 240 w/ an SR20 already put on by a previous owner. We're piecing together some pieces one by one so i figured i'd wire up the Z32 Maf while we wait for some parts.

I ran into a few snags which led me to search on various forums to no avail so I'm hoping some of you all can help me out. I have the Z32 maf w/ plug but when I try to wire up the stock harness to the Z32 plug it just doesn't make any sense.

THe stock harness has 3 wires going into the plug (brown, black, and white). THe Z32 maf has 4 wires basically. 2 blacks, 1 white, and one black/white w/ silver dot.

So i sat there scratching my head for a while and realized maybe this harness is completely different. I search the part # for the maf that was originally installed and it is a 240sx maf.

now my questions..... is the 240sx maf the same as the SR20DET S13 maf and harness? I' am assuming the harness is a KA harness thats tapped in w/ the SR20DEt wiring.

any ideas?

thanks guys... OK I'll get it wired up tomorrow and see how it runs. I just dind't want to hack into the wiring w/o knowing exactly what i was doing. All these DIY's online and what not have purple red, and orange wires and to be honest I dont know where the hell they got those colored wires from.

ok so i'm going w/

inner black wire goes to black wireoutter black wire goes to chasis groundwhite to whiteand lastly brown to white/black

this sound right?

LMAO Im sorry but some of you all dont need to have these cars.

Black is ALWAYS a ground unless someone wired the car wierd. So if you have two black wires they are both ground you just connect the two to the one. You dont have to ground them to the chassy.

I mean serious common sense is the greatest thing in the world. Also that MAF isnt going to work on the car unless you have a piggyback or standalone system.

some of these wiring kits i've seen they label the brown as ground.

w/ wiring you can never be too detailed.

common sense If you would do just a little research you can find out really quickly. Jim Wolfs website has the full diagram for wiring.

Also you didnt answer what are you using to control the Z32 MAF cause the stock ECU by itself wont cut it.

Not bashing just saying

Im getting tierd of seeing these kids get cars they no little about and then trying to do things to them before they know basic things like wiring.

I started with a junk car and have worked my way up. More and more though younger kids are getting swapped cars with things done to them and they just start doing things before researching and knowing what they are doing.

Im not saying learning from the forums is bad but the question he asked it easily found on sites. I also dont like seeing people by fixed up cars without prior knowledge of the car or cars in general because you could seriously **** something up or your self.

well I really wouldn't consider myself a kid, i'm 25 and been around cars for a while now but I'll admit i'm very much so a noob w/ nissans. I bought the 240sx b/c it was a good deal and I could finish the whole car without tapping into the bank account much. Plus its cheap enough that I can tear it apart w/o really getting all worked up.

its financially an easy car to work with and the parts are alot cheaper then normal. I had a general question about Z32 maf and wanted to clarify on the forum before I just dove into it. Maybe I'm not smart enough like you to figure it out.... maybe I just want to be sure. Anyways, thanks for your help.

Its been a little over a month since i've had the car but fun none the less.... just a bit difficult working all night after work but I promise it will be completely done in 3 months tops!

SR20DET w/ a few bolt on upgrades....checkedsupporting upgrades & turbo upgrade on orderSuspension (ie coilovers, supporting arms, sways n bushings) on orderbbk.... recieved but uninstalled6puck dual plate Clutch.... recieved but uninstalled yetFlywheel..... to be determinedwheels.... arriving tomorrowaudio.... just need to pick it up from the manufacturerRe-wrapped door panels done awaiting rest of interior and then new seats.

btw I do have the ECU reflashed w/ the JWT for temporary. I'll let you all know how it goes after i get the car assembled and give it a few drives but I'll most likely go w/ the Greddy Management as soon as they get all my parts shipped and assembled for final tuning.

ehh I am 16 too torunnig 17 soon. you might have found it wise to study about what you're car is capable of, and what you where getting yourself into. I'll be glad to let you know that the Z32 MAF wotn work unless you got SAFC or better. you might wanna take your time and research ALOT casue yeah pretty much its not as easy as it seems. I Have a 1990 with an SR too. mine is RHD tho. and I bought it on my own. swaped it. blew it up rebuilt it, blew it up again and now I am rebuilding again... good luck tho.

nice seems like you know what you;re doing.. uhm first time. was I guess weack cylinder #3 desisded to blow a hole ont he piston under boost.... second time. Thumbz Down Drift Night bouncing off rev limiter without RAS is not a ver smart thing to do 16 bent valves...... and yeah,. he he. well anyway yeah good luck with the car. RHD is whatever. I did it for the Rice factor (free parts, experience doing it ,Silvia front on a coupe, it all added up to a full silvia conversion) so yeah it sucks tho when you get stuck behind a truck on a 2 lane road. drive thru ppl freak out, get alot of unwanted attention. and yuo get the "do you drift" question an extra 150%
