i found this Orange(hard to find) 2004 Maxima.

here are some pix!!

it is not a BOSE, which is both good and bad b/c i like the factory look A LOT, but could always put a touch screen in it.

it is black leather that was well maintained.

sadly its an automatic with manual mode, and i would LOVE a legit manual.

sadly the car is not up to my standards:the suspension rattles around in the front driver corner.the engine was not taken care of as it should've been either, it's not clean at all. The aluminum on the engine is oxodized more than it should be, and it seems as though the previous owner NEVER opened the hood, except to have the oil changed.

the rear right rim is dented on the rim, which means it could have messed up the cars rear alignment right?

The transmission shifts a little too hard when it's in drive, but is very responsive in Manual Mode/Tiptronic.

when braking there is a slight wobble, the brakes look completely unserviced since the owner traded it in...isnt the shimmy a KNOWN problem in the 2004 Maxima's???

I LOVE THE COLOR because it's loud and would look SICK dropped on teins with a cf hood and roof overlays similar to jsmithsole, i've got matching Nissan Orange rims and Genuine Nismo Rims that would look AWESOME, it's leather which is a must for me.

the dealer is asking a rediculous 16,991...i talked them down to 14,995...but they are unwilling to do ANY of the repairs before i buy it. so i was going to estimate how much it would cost a "mechanic"(aka ME) do to the repairs and deduct it off the 14,995 price.

i'd trade in my 2000 maxima as a down payment, but i'd strip off the performance parts before trading it, and let them put the stock rims off the 2004 max on my 2000 so i could keep the Nismo's.

thoughts?insight?recalls on the 2004??recurring problems with current owners??

THANKS EVERYONE!!

P.S. i want to put these 18" rims on it:

ooooooorrr...i think my Nismo's would rock the streets:18x8.5 +25 fronts18x9.5 +30 rears

That right there is enough reason to me not to buy it. Honestly I'd keep looking if your not truly happy with it. Yes it's a rare color but if there's a bunch of problems off the bat you need to fix and the dealer won't touch I'd skip over it.

Don't buy a car if you don't like it. Keep Searching until you find what you are looking for!

don't buy it.

1st you want a manual. it's an auto. also it probably has the 4/at which is known to fail. the car has problems and you're going to spend 15k on it?

just wait untill you see something better.

It's an SE so it has the 5AT, only the SL came with the 4AT in 04 (I know because I failed and got one!) No problems yet...fingers crossed.

The 4at only came on some SLs and only in 2004. Even on the SL the 5AT was optional. 5AT was the only automatic in SE.

That's definitely a 5at shifter gate in that car, at any rate. Easy to tell them apart from the gate. The 5at has the extra side-gate at the bottom for manumatic mode. The old (OLD!) RE4 isn't manumatic, so it has a more traditional looking gate.

thanks J and doom.

anything i can say to get the op away from those hideous rims works for me. those don't belong on ANY vehicle. if you want orange rims throws something classy like TE-37s...

TE37s are nice. I'm not sure they fit the 6th gen that well, though. It's a big car and needs a heftier looking wheel. There are quite a few around here running on 16 and 17 inch wheels that you'd expect to see on Civics and Preludes, and it just doesn't look...suited. The Maxima is sort of too big and too classy for those sorts of wheels. The TE37 might work if they're big enough, though.

I definitely agree with you on the orange wheels, though. Not my style.

Honestly, I think the OEM 6th gen SE wheels are fantastic looking wheels. I'd love a set for my Q. I can understand the desire to have something that stands out, though.
