A few months ago I posted up about this annoying chirping noise coming from my mirror. And the noise would stop if I touched it.

Several ppl replied w/ fixes, and Steve even posted a how to. So I did the mirror repiar per Steves post. Remove the mirror, seperate the housing and put a silicone adhesive around the mirror edge, reassemble and reinstall.

All was good for several weeks. Then the other day it started again. WTF. Mirror feels tight ect. So I take my T20 torx driver and check the screw securing the mirror to the mount. I was loose. 3 turns worth of loose.

Drove the car over 300 miles this weekend and no chirp. So there you go. If you run across this, check the securing screw for the mirror

Nice catch!

At the time I wrote that I was lacking my T20 long, and was using generic Torz screwdriver that has over the hears lost its size printed on it. I would assume as an Audi guy you have all of those in numberous lenths. LOL.

If I get a chance I will add that to where ever that thread is that is a good bit of info. Thanks.

No problem. And as a matter of fact I do have them in several lenghts. 1 set that are standard screwdriver lenght, 1 set in 3/8 drive and one set in 1/4 drive. And they range from T4 - T55.

Steve. Can you see of there is a torq spec for it. Just to i eliminate someone over tightening it and breaking something.

The torque spec is 14-17in Lbs. I ususally put a small dot of red lock-tite on the threads just to keep it nice and tight.

On a G flywheel is where I use mine. And the T4 is handy for the I key little tag thing that is like $60.
