For those of us with the convenience packages(technology package in canada) have you noticed that even thought this key of ours is supposed to be "smart" it still doesn't unlock when we approach the car, we have to manually press the unlock button on the door, how different is this then us hitting the unlock button on a keyless entry system and a JOE-Schmo car?also, our car doesnt even lock itsself when you walk away from it (not including if you hit the unlock button and not open a door, then the system re-arms itsself). The Prius does, and now I just read the Suzuki's do also......um that sounds a little dumb and not to "Smart" to me.

jsut felt like venting, thanks

Just to clarify, we Canadians don't have the Intelligent key option.

The fact that you have to push the button to unlock/lock is still clearly better than just a plain keyfob because you don't ever have to take your keys out of your pocket. You just get to your car, unlock, start, drive away without fiddling with keys. I am VERY jealous that we don't have Intelligent key... I would have loved it.

You have to hold the keyless remote in your hand to press the button. On the IKey, you just need to hit the button on the car. No fishing in your pockets, no need to take off your gloves, no need to drop what you're holding. That makes the difference for me.

I'd much prefer the Intelligent key to the automatic locks. I don't want my car to unlock when I get near it, I want my car to unlock when I tell it to. Pushing a button that's ON the door handle doesn't seem like that big a deal at all. Locking the doors after I leave isn't something I want, either. There are a lot of times when I want to leave my car and not have it locked (I don't want to have to unlock the car or make sure I have my keys in my pocket every time I get in it when it's parked in my own garage, for example).

The "features" that the Prius offers are all downsides to me. I HATE car features that babysit me. Cars that lock the doors when you start driving, cars that lock themselves when you walk away or after a period of time...all that is an annoyance. If I want my car to do something, I'll tell it to do it. If I don't tell it to do something, it means I don't want it to do it.

I'm sure Nissan thought the same thing when designing the IKey system. It isn't inferior, it's just different.

Yeah, the Prius is the Microsoft of cars, always thinking it's decisions are better than yours

In my truck, I have the feature that automatically locks the doors once you cross 15 mph and once you shut off the car, the door automatically unlock. I like this feature and wish that my V had it. My wife is the type of person who doesn't feel comfortable riding around unless the doors are locked, so this is a very convenient feature for us. Another feature I miss, not being locked in the car. When you lock the doors, you should be able to pull on the driver's handle and get out. I've seen this feature in most cars I've driven, except for the really old school cars I've been in. I'm not sure why the V doesn't have this

That one is especially strange since other new Nissans I've been in have that feature.

okay maybe I would just like this car to be able to "have" this feature, if i decided I really wanted it just turn it on, My 01 s10 has that option, you pull on the turn signal lever while turning the key to the on position, then hit the 'unlock' button to activate the central locking sytem(you decide if you would like it to lock at certain mph or lock when it starts) oh well, this Nissan definately isn't a Chevy and it sure as he*l isn't a Toyota(prius)
