i finally got my CA on tuesday, after 8 months and going through 4 different importers. but i have it. it was one of thoes, ya its got like 40k bought from a running car and all that crap. there is a metal sticker on the top of the cam gear cover taht say's 100,000k on it w/ a bunch of japanese, i'm guessing this is the 100k check up or something. i dont know. it also had an SR turbo on it, but the compressor wasnt' clocked on it, part of the compressor housing was just grinded off!!!!!, the oil lines werent hooked up, and the two inside bolts that connect it to the exhaust manafold were missing, there are also metal shavings you can see. so the "turbo mod" was done recently. that thing would have not worked the way it was. the hot pipe and heatshield is missing too. he sent me pics before i bought it and it had all that stuff on it. but i called the importer last night and told him everything, after denying any knowlege of anything he finally agreed to send me a new turbo, hot pipe, and heatshield in return for the old one. the thermostate and pipe behind it had rust in it, flushed the coolant and it was nasty. but hey, its a motor. it'll just take another month or so to have in my car. but i plan to make in as like new condition as i can. i just have a few questions. i've searched the forums but i just want some specific answers. how simmilar is the ca18de externally to my motor. alot of the hoses are dry rotted, can i get hoses off of a CA18de, i know i can get some stuff from it, but i didn't find anything about the hoses. also, can anyone tell me where to find the CA service manual, my friend used to have it on CD but cant find it, and does that include the wiring diagram?? i heard that you can follow the SR diagram to wire the CA, but i have no idea if that is true. can anyone let me know for sure, or tell me where i can find a CA wiring diagram. thanks alot

the silver metal sticker that says 100,000 km is the timing belt sticker nissan gives you when you buy an oem timing belt...

pulsar hoses more than likely will not work...the engine sits in the engine bay opposite!

search "fsm" there's a link in an old thread...and it does have the factory wiring diagrams in it

use the SR wiring stuff to wire it into your KA harness though...its fairly straightforward, and its what most people have used. I have yet to see a "CA specific" wiring diagram!

my suggestion for hoses is this: anything smaller than radiator hose, buy some long hose and cut it to fit correctly. For radiator hose, use stock KA24DE hoses...and cut them to fit (just like an inch too long!)

and good luck...keep us posted and take lots of pics!:D

yea, i've been working on my car for 11 months now and it hasn't run for almost that whole time, pretty much everything that can be done has been done to it. its a red 93 coupe, post my whole set up later tonight, but i've gota go to work, thanks for your help. i went by nissan today and got the hose scematics and stuff for the CA18de, i saw that the manafold had a diff design, but it looks like its just the main unit. the part w/ the butterflies looks like it might be the same, so i'm guessing that thoes gaskets would work. some of the hoses might match up but. i'm not goin to go cheap on anything. thanks alot

zilvia.net has a fsm for the ca18det in english. you just download it in pdf format. if you dont have a harness, you can always make one. i did (to some extent), but it took a very long time. its about 1/2 ca18det harness and 1/2 ka24e harness. hope all goes well, and make sure you allow quite a while for wiring to be completed, if you are doing it, and i assume you are.

The only thing you use from the E and DE harnesses is the 2 plugs by the battery and the plug under the dash. You dont actually use the E or DE harness itself, it just wont work.

When you cut the plug for the dash, make sure you cut it the farthest down the harness. You will need about 6" or so of extra lenght.
