Well, I was mosying my way down South St in Cerritos and I spot 5.0. posted up waiting to come out of a parking lot. I'm in the second lane from the right and had just passed the mall (for those of you in the area that know). He had his signal on to turn left, so I didn't really think nothing of it, but I pushed in the clutch and coasted by him anywayz. After I get a good distance, I put it back in fourth (my quietest gear) and soon as I do that, I see him pull out my way. I quickly bust a left and he follows suit and pulls me over. It was a Filipino cop and he comes up to me and asks me to turn off the car. I had just came from the freeway and it was already counting down from the timer but I did as told. Then he says, "Your car's pretty nice. Is it fast?" I was like HELLLLLLL NO! It's stock!!! He might not have bought it with the turbo timer and the racing seats and seat belts, but he didn't make a big deal of it. I was scared he was gonna try and impound it or something. He ended up giving me a ticket for Modified Exhaust and said to get it fixed. Afterwards he said he liked my car setup and asked if I drifted and said he knew of an event going on Oct 23rd that he was going to with a friend who had a 350z. That surprised the heck out of me. A cop who knew the scene and all about drift cars. I asked why Choppers get away with loud exhaust and he said it was a different class and motorcycles are exempt. That sucks. But now I gotta do something about my exhaust. I heard they only mess with you at night and that's exactly what happened. They don't bother me during the day. Anyone got any suggestions as to how to fix this problem? I don't have a stock exhaust (never did). Think a Exhaust Controller would work?

When I got my modified exhaust ticket, i didn't take off my exhaust. I just went to the court on the date it said on my ticket, plead guilty, and paid it off. It was like $140 or something like that. They didn't even check to see if I changed it back to stock.

south and gridley area eh?i have a stock exhaust for the street, so i don't worry TOO much.but i still worry when i drive around the mall and everything over there. oct. 23rd eh? i wonder if he is going to the same event as me.maybe i should make friends with him...

anyways, that sucks that he is into the "scene" and still gave you a ticket for the exhaust.goodluck. put a stocker on there eh.

i think more than anything, they tend to see the shiny canister. there are a lot of loud cars, but in my opinion. the shine of the canister will catch their eyes a lot more than the noise will catch their ears.

wink wink paint it black wink wink.

we'd have to at least know of him if hes going on the 23rd. it's a private event, not like driftday where anyone can go. huh... and theres only a few guys with 350's. i wonder if it's the S/C'd 350Z. mehhhhhhhhhhhhhh

who's event is on the 23rd? in anyways.

for the exhaust ticket... throw a silencer on there.. go to the referee center in Fullerton college and get it tested and pass it and your exhaust will be legal..

that's what I did....and I got pulled by the CHP in Cerritos as well!

now my Dual N1's are 50 state legal as far as the sound is concerned!

STFU... it's not a crew. It's just Team Ryan. get it right. And stop messaging me on AIM begging to be in Team Ryan, you're not good enough.

Man I DID tell him I bought the car like that. He just shrugged his shoulders and said it's still too loud.

I hate silencers. They take away from the deep. endless pit look of the exhaust. But if I find out that the Apexi Control Valve won't do the trick, then I guess that'll be my other option, besides going to the junkyard and purchasing a stock exhaust to temporarily put on. That's money well spent, wouldn't you say? Could get some better goodies for the trouble I'm bout to put myself through, just so the city of Cerritos can have one less quiet import. The Bastards.

I think he meant go get it tested with the silencer and then take it off after. If a cop pulls you over, just show him the printout. He won't be able to say crap.

Do you have the exact address? That would be very very helpful as I really want to get the Dual N1's, only thing stopping me is being afraid of getting tickets. With that, it will be soo crazy .

sound has nothing to do with it. it's the shiny ricepipe that is like a magnet for cops. The Apexi valve will do nothing for you more times than it does help you.

Brian, I actually meant to say TR not TG.. and TR is Team Ryan...

PG crew or TR or GW crew... get it... I am the only outsider because I am not hardcore enough...bleh

IN anycase

Yes, what I meant was put the silencers on... get it tested.. pass, get a sticker, get the print out. remove the silencers... drive

simple..

The Refere center is on the Fullerton College campus.. just log online to the CA DMV webite and get the number to the Cal Refere appointment center.... they will make the appointment... tell them you want it at the fullerton college one.. and then get the addrss from them.

very easy... they won't even pay attentio to the SR that you have in the car.. just to be on the safe side, remove the spark plug cover that says turbo..

I didn't take it off and they didn't do anything about it.

Have you gotten pulled over anymore since the one in Cerritos? Do you think the BRM dual tip exhaust will be able to pass?

What if the car looks completely stock except for the exhaust? Do you think the cops will still give me a hard time? Askin since even the BRM exhausts are shiny. Don't want to get a ticket.

nope.. not since then BUT, even if I do... and not just in Cerritos but anywhere in Cali! I have the sticker that says I am legal so they can't do crap about that...other things yea but exhaust no...

As far as BRN dual tip should pass... I heard it is not as loud as the Apexi.. then again I haven't heard anything louder than mine...

all you have to do is get some silencers and you will be str8

the muffler may be 50 state legae but the combination of header and exhaust piping and muffler "invalidates" it's legality, so you would have to find a proper header and exhaust that give you power together while keepign it all legal. yeah...that's what that cop guy said...

I should have bought that magazine ....but I don't have to worry bout that crap ...I can throw on the loudest exhaust I want and ride roun this island till I die and the cops won't give 2 hoots of a rat's @$$. I love the Bahamas...ozone depletion?....blame our cars

Anyone know if it does anything it is supposed to aka is it worth buying.Copied straight from autocarparts.com:

ExMag features - quietest exhaust note on the market (most applications) - refined stealth like appearance - ceramic coated mandrel bent piping - dyno proven gains in horsepower and torque - engineered in Japan - signature RS-R exhaust tip - constructed with 409 stainless steel for long life With the street performance enthusiast in mind, RS-R developed the ExMag exhaust line to provide powerful gains in horsepower and torque while retaining a quieter exhaust note. It is a well known fact that it is extremely difficult to produce an exhaust system that makes good power without the excessive noise. However, through extensive R&D at RS-R Headquarters in Japan, all ExMag systems have been dyno proven to provide significant power increases over similar exhaust systems. Our ``Exhaust Magic`` lineup offers an excellent alternative to the noisy ``coffee can`` style of exhausts.

If you`re tired of getting tickets and citations for excessive noise, this is the exhaust system you need. The classic styling and stealth like design will also help keep your car off the radar.

Anyone have any experience with this exhaust?
