A "need" and "want" are two different things. A want or your preference, have nothing to do with an actual need. My car does not need power steering or air conditioning, they are preferred luxuries.

I am really pissed off right now at the kids who are in the market for a 240 and don't stop to think that ours cars are 20yrs and older. I have sold three of my four 240's and am currently selling my most recent one. Every time I run into the guys that have had cars from 2001 and up that expect the 240 to be like flawless and perfectly operational then turn around and low ball me.

These cars have been through the motions and most have had the piss beaten out of them at one point or the other. If you want a nice, clean, reliable daily then why the f*** are you trying to buy a swapped modded 20year old car bro?
Especially when I sat and listed all of the major imperfections, but then you are gonna hassle me on little s*** like the dome light and the coolant resi. that was replaced with a plastic bottle as if the $20 plastic resi tank at auto zone or the $80 chase bays one is going to do a better job...

You admitted to not knowing much about the car to begin with, you obviously have no general knowledge from an automotive stand point or you wouldn't be questioning me about half the s*** in the first place. Why would you want to even bother with the car. THEN TO HAVE THE f*** NERVE TO TELL ME MY CAR NEEDS TO MUCH WORK? Why because the f*** bumper sags or because the clutch isn't in the best shape but I am including a brand new ACT in the sale...I suppose you want me to install it for you too. It isn't good enough that the car runs beautifully and has a clean RB swap, decent suspension set up, and no rust anywhere? Oh and the $1500 worth of new parts sitting in the trunk. Go buy a focus bro REALLY. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM MEEEE

Sorry I had to get that off my chest.

Another problem is that people tend to ask for way more than what its worth. In my area at least.

Kids will be kids. They are entitled to receiving things at half their value, don-cha-know

it's not even the low balling that's makes me mad it's that they come in expecting way more out of the cars and point out every little flaw like oh some of the trim is cracked... no way dude it's been removed 100 times by 30 different people over the past 20 years.

Not always.

I plan on selling my 240 in a little less than two years.

Why? Because I can import an R32 fed legal then. My 240 has all name brand products, has a beautifully running Tomei internal'd SR, has a rebuilt transmission, Body painted CF hood, and a huge pile of mods. Power everything including steering. Interior is redone, dash uncracked, and the motor has been dyno'd over 400 wheel horse.

I'll put the car up for $5-6k and wait for it. Hell, id refuse sale to some kid with his dad's money. My 240 isnt 'someone else's problem that puts hurt on my wallet.'

I just wont need two '89 Nissans in the garage, and my Daily is a '98 GC8 2.5RS with only 50k miles. I have a tastefully modded complete car, that I will only sell because I'm done with it.

Image

But, drift tax is a b****, my old rusted a** overheating 240 that i sold for $600 was resold to some kid for $1200 with just a new radiator in it. People SO over price these things.

i think you took that in the wrong way but to clarify if i worded it wrong i dont mean that certain people it puts a hurt on there wallet im saying the ones with something wrong with it and give up so they sell because they can no longer afford the parts to fix there project completed cars are a whole different story no will i spend my hard earned 10k on a fully built car that mommy and daddy paid for hell no but if you put your blood sweat and tears and the craftmanship was put into it then yea id hit around that mark as long as the mods compliment each other and arent random parts put together but yea alot of stuff on every website is overpriced in my opinion

I dont understand the point of complaning that people dont like your car... I have power steering and ac on both my de swaped coupe and sr swaped hatch. I think anyone who dosnt have basic things like that on a street car are lazy, cheep or just stupid. hell my old 1976 bmw had working power steering and ac.

But ill add to the list. I hate when people think they have a $6000 car just because they weld the dif and put a sr in it.

I hate when people think they have a $14K car because there is a torn down SR in it.

I paid 1k for my 97 Kouki. The front end was all smashed in from the previous owner tossing the salad of a caddy, he was originally asking 2600. I talked him down, he was going on vacation and he just wanted it gone. I got lucky as hell with my buy. With that same token, I have been offered 5200 for mine with 126k on the dash. I thought that that was too much I honestly wouldn't pay any more than 4k for an all stock s14 in fair condition. I have seen guys put there bone stock s14s up for 9k because its "untouched" and everyone seems to say they have never pushed their car a little here and there, that's Bull Poop. Now as far as a complete project that is heavily modded of course the body is gonna be beat a little here and there or show signs of age. I completely agree with Drakelee when some of these kids want 2012 options in a 20yr old car. I say if you have the pocket to come check out a completed projected and you're a serious buyer then ask questions yes, but don't sit there and criticize what someone has put there time and sweat in to. I personally don't have the pocket deep enough to be a serious buyer for heavily modded cars but if I did I damn sure wouldn't give you crap about a chip in the paint here or no power steering or a/c.

This. It being a 20 year old car has nothing to do with you cutting corners. Pointing out what's wrong with it? Have you not bought a car before? Do you not pay attention to every scratch or ding when inspecting it?

As far as wanting all the "luxuries", no you don't need them to drive, but as an owner of an SR swapped s14 with a/c, power steering, AND cruise control, all of that stuff is easy as s*** to hook up. I really don't understand why most swaps don't have it.

I paid 5k for my 98 Kouki which was bone stock except for the suspension was some changed and lowered. The interior is damn near mint only the door panels have some cut and scrapes, and the plastic handle trim are cracking. Only problemsthat bother me are 200K miles, prior owner didn't take care of the exterior and motor, and the car has plenty of dents and rust set it which I treated.

However, I do love the fact it's a real Kouki, factory 5 speed, and unmolested.
