I got the motor up and running in a drivable state. Big thanks to Carl for the tune. First thing I did was take it to have the emissions test done. I really just want to know where I stood with them and it doesn't seem that bad. The requirements are 220 ppm hydrocarbon and I had 680 ppm. At idle the a/f ratio bouces back and forth between 12.5 and 13. Should I lean it out to 14.7, I would think that would be enough? I had no carbonmonoxide and we don't measure for nox where I live. Another something I notice was that the boost seem to come on fairly late, about 4000 and the wastegate opened at 7 psi. I didn't stay in it very long. Only took it up to 6500 rpm or so. Whole time boost stayed and 7 psi and pulled about like the stock turbo. For those of you who don't know, the car was down for a year while it got port and polish, tomie 260 procams, and t3/t04e 50 trim. Can a bigger turbo open a wastgate at a lower psi than a smaller one? With the stock turbo it held boost to around 10 psi.

If you replaced the stock turbo, you lost the stock wastegate.

The new turbo has a internal gate and I used the stock actuator.

That is very rich at idle. You should probably be around stoich (14.7) or maybe a titch leaner depending on how it idles at that point.

if you have access to a rom burner i can redo the image for you...i will say this tho, pulling the idle out to 14:1 will give it a right nasty lope13.5:1 gives a nice smoothish idle.

I don't, but I need to reset base timing, change out the spark plugs, and put some good gas in it before I do anything else. I started to mess with the timing just by ear and got it idling at 500 rpm at 14.5-15.0 a/f. Yes, it had a nasty lope.

OK, put in a set of BCPR5EY-11 in place of the 3330's, dumped in 4 gallons of BP's finest, set base timing to 15*, and found a small vaccum leak where the charcoal canister solenoid hose use to go. It idles between 690-850 at 14.3-15.5 a/f and at 2500rpm ( that's what they test at if they don't like your idle) it was between 14.7 and 16.0. If that doesn't pass I'll put the rb20 maf back on and see what happens.

Those are just no load a/f. Under load it gets rich pretty quick. I think I may have another problem though. I took it out for a quick romp and everything seemed fine until I pulled back in the driveway and it died. Tried to start it up and it would idle for a couple of seconds and then die. ECU is now throwing a 21. I've checked the ignitor and most of the coils and so far so good. Tomorrow I'll start checking the rest of the coils and the harness.
