^ you know... if they want "continuous flow" they should build a over head pass for the traffic the crosses before the intersection. That would be far more efficient than having the straight traffic having to stop for the crossing traffic.

I really like the right turns though! I hate when people make a right turn onto the main road and don't accelerate. A longer dedicated lane would allow them to get up to speed and merge.

This assumes that they know how to merge, so it won't actually work

I've driven through there a number of times. That thing is an absolute beast.

I hate the new setup. They try to force you on to the toll road to get to the AMC theater up by Veterans, but I found out that if you exit early and turn on a side street next to a small bank you can bypass the stupid booth.

I fail to see how adding an extra light creates a "continuous flow" intersection. I also don't like that this means you'll have traffic turning left and right onto the same street at the same time.

Bad. Bad bad bad bad.
I love how even in their own animation, the car in the left lane during the "turning left" segment misses the stop at the pre-light and moves out into the oncoming lane.

I don't see anything "continuous" about it. And ya, a bridge with that design would work a lot better (probably out of the budget).

Around Huntsville where I am living now, a lot of the suburb areas and surrounding towns feed in via these small two-lane roads that used to be rural highways before urban sprawl that don't have any reasonable alternative routes. These things are in horrible shape, need to be completely redone and widened. But the roads are too critical to the commuting infrastructure to be able to take out of commission or detour traffic in order to fix them. I don't think they have had any significant maintenance in years, the asphalt is like abrading away.

Yep, all the locals know that. Stay to the right and you'll just go to the next onramp which is past the last toll booth.

Thats about as continuous as NSync's career (not very). I dont understand the point of this at all, and its makes the intersection itself unnecessarily wide.
