i posted this in the 240sx forum but didnt get many replies so im gonna post here...

SO heres the story....

A couple months ago i was backing my car out of the driveway and all of a sudden it just stalled. Then i found out that there was lots of corrosion on the negative terminal so i cleaned it up and it was fine. A couple months later my car would just shut off when im crusing about 30 mph, but i could start is back up no problem. So i figured it might be my negative terminal and i cleaned it up. Then i took it for a srive and after about 2 miles it shut off on me but i could start it back up no problem. About a week ago i was gonig to school and it shut off on me when i slowed down for a light but this time it didnt start back up right away. It took about 5 sec to start back up so im kinda stumped on what the problem can be.

My brother in law had the same problem on his s13 and he said it was the oxygen sensor, but are there any other possibilities that can cause my car to just turn off?

Just throwing some ideas out there.

clogged fuel filter thats getting progressively worse.

Clogging injectors?

Bad sensor? (do you have a check engine light on?)

Loose battery cable (I know you just cleaned it, but once the same thing happened to me and it was just the battery cables needed a real good tightening, just not too tight)

Corroded grounds to the body of the car? (as in where the negatibe battery terminal grounds to the chassis of the car).

I hope some of these will help.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe try wiggling some of the plug in the engine bay I had a hell of a time with a sensor once because the plug was loose. You may try checking your spark plug wires, cap, and rotor sometimes they get corroded as well.

Just make sure your careful when messing with your cap and rotor and be sure to put everything back exactly the way it was before.

I'm no pro at this, just shooting ideas out there.

check your ECU for codes, does it just die all at once or does the engine kind of stutter a little bit first like its trying to stay alive

seafoam it, and doublecheck all your grounds.. you'd not believe how weird your car will behave with grounds that are all awkward..
