Yep, took the car out for a shakedown drive and quickly broke something in the drivetrain. I was running around 8-10lbs. of boost and in under 15 minutes it just let go. The high point was embarassing a Dinan BMW beforehand though :) While doing 1st-3rd pulls on a secluded road it made a few horrid noises, we bounced a bit shifting into 2nd (almost like loosing traction, which is what I thought had happened at the moment) and from that point on it'll just free rev as soon as it comes into boost and launching is now ridiculously easy...since it slips like a mother. At one point I was in 2nd gear and just holding the engine at 5k...we very slowly got up to about 20 and then all of a sudden something caught, the revs dropped to 3k or so and we were off. Until the next shift that is, then the problems were back. Its back in the garage now and all I've done is verify that enough fluid is in the transmission. It almost sounds like a clutch problem to me but I cant rationalize an ACT hd pressure plate, 6 puck disk, and fidanza flywheel combination giving out that quickly. Does anyone care to venture a guess as to what exactly died? On a positive note, the engine is doing GREAT and the car is ridiculously fun.

Is your rear main seal leaking? It sounds liek you are getting a little oil on the friction surface (since it's a pucked clutch and it won't ruin it) and once you burn it off away you go.

Make sure it is releasing completely. Does the clutch engage while the pedal is fairly high up?

C-Kwik...thats the next thing I'm checking...it was working great during the first few miles but its obviously screwed up now. I'm going to check the engagement and adjust the clutch pedal before I go dropping the transmission or anything. Erich, its a brand new rear main seal with only 40 miles on it...shouldn't be the problem. However, I'll double check that area just to be on the safe side :) I'm really not too irritated by this or anything, breaking things is to be expected for me (I am known for beating on my toys as if they were red headed stepchildren).

Check for air in the line as well, if you removed the slave.

I'll make the helper ***** come over and we'll make sure the clutch hydraulic system/disengagement and engagement is still all good. If its not that....Off with the transmission!

did you torque the flywheel bolts according to FSM when you were putting your ACT clutch and Fidanza flywheel on?My guess is its something like that or you didnt grease things properly so maybe your clutch fork is getting stuck on the shaft somehow.Who knows.

Well, I KNOW the bolts are torqued right, as are the pp bolts...but I didn't grease the TOB at all ( just plain forgot). I really doubt its sticking though, its been working great up until now and I've visually verified that it doesn't stick at all.

Just out of curiosity--how exactly can you test to see if the clutch is completely releasing? I mean-- My clutch will enage right off the florr for a bit, then progressivley works its way up to engaging nearer to the top as the day goes on, or the more i drive. It doesnt slip at all--thats for sure, but the clutch is finicky, as if it wants to engage properly soetimes, and then engage to high up sometimes. Its very qierd, and frustrating, and the car wants to not engage as smoothly the higher up it grabs. I know there is no air in it for sure--i bled it down les than a month ago, and the thing doesnt get spongy at all.

any ideas?

isnt the TOB a sealed unit? I was lookin at the OEM nisan one I bought just the other day and it looks like a sealed bearing that doesnt need grease packing...

Yeah, its a sealed unit fiz...but you are supposed to grease the input shaft (what it rides on). I found my problem...once the clutch wore in a bit, it was misadjusted. The clutch pedal was constantly putting some pressure on it and keeping it from engaging completely, hence it was slipping. I feel like a huge dunce, but a simple adjustment had things right as rain again :)

I diddent even think about that for my clutch!

Mine does not slip all the time eather... just sometimes... I thought it was after heat buildup but now I hope its just adjustment.

It lets loose at 8psi but not all the time.
