Hey guys,

I've had my car for a year now and the sr's been sittin for the past 8 or so months. I got it to start and all but still have a few kinks to work out(The car starts only after excessive pumping of ze pedal.)

Basically it over heats after about 20 minutes or soIts idling high and adjusting the throttle cable doesn't seem to do a thing( I loosened it all the way to get it at 750 or so rpm)I haven't connected the vacuum lines yet (3 lines connected. 1 to FPR 1 to BOV and 1 plugged)Theres alot of half hoses everywhere which I have no idea as to where they goWhile under the car I noticed that there were 2 electrical plugs hanging from the chassis and I couldn't find anywhere to plug them into the transmission. The whole car also starts to shake when it goes under 1k!

Theres also alot of electrical plugs that are dangling around and I don't know where they go! (I looked for male ends but it nothing seemed to correspond)

My brother used to help me with this project (he did most of the work while I did stuff like pump the pedal or hand him tools)Last month he got hurt during snowboarding and required immediate spinal operation. They put 2 metal plates on his spine but hes still resting so the only thing I could do is call him and see if he could diagnose the problem over the phone.

If anyone around the brooklyn area could take a look at the car that'd be great! Its about 8mins from CB toys r us.

The car is a 1990 SOHC 240sx standard

Down Under *Green plug top right

Stragglers

Loose tubesTop right tube next to vac line This one is at the bottom driver side behind the headlight

Where can I buy replacement mounts and tabs?? This moonroof is actually the only one of this size. Everything else is too big.

Trouble shooting much appreciated.

Do you have an electric fan installed on the radiator? If I remember correctly in the picture where you can see the engine fan and the alternator that plug is for the electric fan. It's raining so I can't look at my car right now. The picture under that, those black plugs are for the A/C. The very last picture (behind the headlamp) is for the canister. Most of those wires are for emissions. I took mine out since I don't have any emissions to pass here. Hope your bro is ok and good luck.

that big ole canister thing your holding is exactily that its a gas vapor catcher???? if it makes any sence, but it hooks up to that stragler hose behind your driver headlight and it hooks up to your intake i believe not to sure where it goes. i got rid of mine, it just catches the vapors from the tank and puts it into the motor somehow i forget where it goes to but i do know that its ok to remove it. the 7th pic down ( you holding a cut wire and a plug) that goes to the original motor. its the maf and a/c plug for the ka. i dont think you need it but dont cut it. that big nasty looking plug in the car is a dignostic plug for reading codes n such. goes nowhere. you should have two harness's a trans and a motor harness, you need both the trans hooks up to your altenator starter and trans sensors. that sensor i believe is to the 4th gear??? not sure i think the only ones you need are the forward front one and the rear one??? check for wiring on some of the sites here. as far as the others they should have a mate on the harness. gotta run ill think of what else is needed and post later hope it helps sorry to hear bout your brother

You're idling like sh1t because you're idle hose isn't hooked into the system. The big hose that comes out next to the throttle body needs to be connected into the cold pipe going into the throttle body. It's hooked up to a valve that allows air to bypass the throttle plate and idle. It's pulling unmetered air right now, so the car is idling rough because of that.

Also, you need to adjust your idle via that valve, not your cable. If you look between the second and third intake runners, you'll see a screw. You can adjust the idle via that. After you get the idle hose connected first that is.

I'm going to start with the undercar pic. That will be my #11- Trans plugs. SR transes use a different style plug from KA transes. The switches are identical except for the plug2-not sure, but IIRC, they're usually capped off and used for diagnostic purposes.3-I can't tell very well from the pic. Wire colors would be nice.4-SOHC electric fan. The SOHC has a temp switch in the lower rad hose that turns the auxillary fan in front of the A/C condensor on.5-Power steering plugs from the look of it. They just send a signal to the idle valve to increase the idle slightly when the steering is at full lock6-old KA ignition plugs for the coil and PTU7-Hard to tell, again. Wire colors would help.8-not sure on those. The little thing between your index and middle finger looks aftermarket. Especially with the bright yellow and purple wires. Could have been for an alarm9-Used for diagnostic purposes. Just tuck it up over the knee panel10- wastegate actuator. You need that to keep your turbo from overboosting. Just hook it up to a vac source.11-Random vacuum T12-Charcoal canister. Old emissions stuff to keep the smell of gas down.13- Idle hose14-vapor line from fuel tank

Can't help you on your sunroof problems

I would like to thank everyone for pointing me in the right direction ESPECIALLY HIJACKER!!! <33 :D

So I spent the whole day cutting up the tray and some other places to run the IC pipe and to plug all the vac lines. Vac lines were plugged following this chart:Basically all lines are routed except one from the EAI control solenoid to the EAI Control valve since I don't have one so that line is plugged.

So basically, my car starts right up now but instead of the smooth vrooom that I'm so used to hearing its now "put put put put put put puttt puttt vrooom" and it idles around 650. It sounds like my brothers half assed subiePlease note that I kept the pedal depressed at all times without letting go and I noticed that it hesitates around 3k then drops to 2.5k and then again at 4. This didn't happen before I plugged in all the "right" lines

I also found this weird looking plug thingie that looked like a mini fuse box of some sort behind the engine. Running from that little box is a plug that connects to itself (wtf?)

Engine has stopped overheating and stays cool around well under half mark.

Just wanted to confirm that what I plugged into was indeed the following:EAI Control SolenoidBoost Pressure SolenoidThese parts were all attached to my starter when my swap came. Right now I have all the lines at the vac lines running back to the passenger side.

I also wanted to know if theres a way to tell if I have DOHC or SOHC lines. The lines inside the car are supposingly DOHC but I'm not sure anymore seeing how the reservior that came with it lined up on the passenger tower and looked the same as my old SOHC one. I dont have the SOHC lines to compare anymore but is there a way I could tell? There is also a plug running from the high pressure line here. It looks exactly the same as the Boost Pressure Solenoid plug But theres a line that I previously noted but I'm not sure if its suppose to plug?

Also, does anyone know if its possible to swap heads with the SR ac hardline and the SOHC ac hardline? (I want to keep the SR pump and just swap the head of the hardline so that I can bolt the sr hardline up instead of having to swap to a KA pump and then custom mounting it in.)

Thanks for all the help! :D
