Ok guys, I decided to go ahead and change my key cylinder today since my shell didnt have one when I bought it. The previous owner removed the original one for what ever reason and left me with a steering column in pieces. Ive managed to get everything back together except for one piece (pictured below). Ive searched and even gone threw the factory service manual and cannot find this duhicky anywhere. Please someone tell me what this thing is and where it goes in relation to everything else. Car is a 93 base model s13 auto.

Maybe it's something alarm related?
Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

Its some kind of lock. Maybe steering column lock? Some type of shift interlock? Never worked on an auto 240.

hmmm.... guess my last bet is to find some wiring diagrams and see what this thing runs into. I'm converting it from auto to standard so if I don't need it ill just rip it out lol. Its definatelty a switch though :/

Shift interlock is my best bet as well.

Didn't mean to post this the first time in the technical thread, General has more traffic and after 2 days of no responses in the technical thread I moved it here, I can't move or delete threads so I reposted.
:bigthumb: for being my first hater lol

it looks like the lock that keeps the key in the ignition if the car is not in park.

I wasn't offended. Just being that guy.

So I'm assuming sense I put a key cylinder from a manual this is why I can't find a place to mount it. It's coming out. I was just afraid I'd be turning in traffic and have my wheel lock and drive into a building.

That's what brakes are for. :)
I wouldn't worry about it too much honestly.. I think crash hit it on the head. And if you replaced it with a manual cylinder you probably wont be able to re install it.

If it turns out to NOT be any of the more logical answers you got:

Maybe it was just parts that got mixed together, and it's the little dinger in a white box, up under the driver kick panel near the fuse box and the timing control box? The one that makes the chime when you leave the keys in the ignition.

Don't think so. its an electronic lock of some sort.
