I broke down and called Nissan to try and find out technical information on the exact weight of the VH45 and the VG30.... This is the responce I got.

"Uh, we have to call our technical line and get back with you... here is a case number."

LOL kinda blown off but I am going to give them time to get back to me.

BTW on a side note I think my crank pulley is stuck, and my puller doesnt have the right sized bolts to thread into the smaller threads to pull it. Any suggestions?

Get the right size bolts. Do not try anything else.

Err uhh, I don't think they're gonna know that.

I, too, found it hard to believe the scattered misinformation on engine weights, so I weighed my VG (NA) when it came out. I stacked all pertinent parts on top (coils, timing belt/covers, crank pulley, balance tube, etc.) and it came in at 527lbs with no A/C compressor or PS pump and full of oil. This was on a very accurate Longacre racing scale (pics of the scales).

My VH will be out this weekend and I'll be weighing it as well, in the same configuration.

I used a jaw puller and hook it behind the beefy part of the crank pulley...

Its funny they called me back...

Nissan corp. Called me back and said they were not able to give out that information to the general public. I kind of laughed at it saying that it must be some kind of trade secret. The person on the other end of the line agreed with me. Infiniti hasnt called back but I am sure they will have the same answer. Next step is try to call higher than the corp number.... not sure how I am going to get in touch with the engineering department.

Oh and thanks on the pulley suggestions. Does anyone know what sized threads and pitch that is for the pulley?

If you really wanted to you could try using a couple pry bars, one on top and one on bottom. Or on either side. Just a thought. If your really desperate.

If you search this section you will find a general weight of the VH45de, because I know I made one.

Using an industrial lifting weight scale I weighted the VH45DE engine before I put it in my 240Z. It came in at about 460lbs! That's without the starter, A/C, P/S,alt, otherwise the complete engine. We weighted one of the 240Z engines at 350lbs without the alt, dist. and smog pump. I alos weight one of my VG30DETT engines a few yrs ago and it came in at about 650lbs fully dressed.

I know... David, But I was trying to see what Nissan lists as the "official" weight of the VH45DE... And it must be a trade secret because Infinity called me after 2 weeks and said they were not able to release that information to the general public.

There is no reason to know it. Whether dry and full of assesories or full of coolant and oil. Plain and simple, because every car is different.
