Sorry for reviving this thread, but I don't read the General Chat forum. I found a link to this thread in a 240sx convertible thread. Anyway, a couple things to clear up....
Z32 convertible production:1993 - 24751994 - 8851995 - 2921996 - 194
Z31 convertibles:The conversions were all done by R. Straman Co. from Southern California. Over the 6 years of the Z31 a reported 352 Z31 models were converted. There was no discrimination about models other than I believe all were 2 seaters. And the picture of that 50th AE makes me believe R. Straman obviously did do a 50th AE conversion. Keep in mind that the conversion cost $8,000 to do. So anyone with the $26,000 to buy a 50th AE more than likely had the money to spend on the convertible conversion if they wanted.
Until I bought my 88 conversion, I'd only seen the 84-86 (Zenki) style. Now I'm seeing more 87-89 convertibles.
Z32 convertibles:R.Straman Co. also did conversions on the Z32 models before Nissan started their own production. As with the Z31 models, you could convert an NA or TT.
ASC did a hardtop convertible Z32 based off the 2+2 model. As far as I have found, there were only two that were converted.
