Here's the deal. I need a paint job and dont wanna pay the extra dough to have the body sanded and primered for the final paint job. So I'm asking anyone who knows what equipment I should get for sanding and what sort of primer or anything else i should buy. Thanx-

Bump too, I'm gonna be doing some body work and this would be really useful general information.

buffer, power sander and some paint. But seriously there was an entire show on Trucks! dedicated to painting, im srue if you go the the Trucks! website you can find some useful info there. Stacy went over everything from the tools to the paint to the actual painting and dry stage

I had done that with like 4 other friends on another friends car. We used some Ryobi power sanders and got mixed results. The trunk we sanded down to the bare metal but the rest of the car was just to get most of the paint taken off, but not to the bare metal. The trunk came out the best after the entire car was primered (by us) and was fairly smooth while the rest of the car had noticible swirls and bumps. It may take longer but you'd probably get better results if you get down to the metal but it's a pain in the butt to do. hope that helps

Yeah thanks. Looking for a cheap body sander now. But whats the deal with the buffer? Im not gonna put down the final paint. I'll leave that to midas and their $650 clear-coated excellence. You cant get that anywhere. (im not gonna paint the door jams and unibody, screw it)
