I've got a CA18det in a 1990 240sx hatchback.
Me and my buddies got it running about a month ago and it was fun for a bit...
but....
I want more now.
I want to upgrade to a t28 turbo but I'm not too sure what I'd be getting myself into.
From what I've been able to find I just need to clock the housing on the turbo to make it fit.
But I'm also going to need injectors, fuel pressure regulator..
Not sure what kind of engine management to run either
I just want some help filling in the blanks.

Many thanks,
Dorian

engine management you have:
Megasquirt, NIStune, the mods swear by SDS.
you can also just get it chipped (ROM tune?)

i think these injectors are ok:
DSM 450cc, RX7 460cc?, GTR 444cc

Fuel pressure regulator:
Nismo Type A FTW

I'm not sure how far we can go with our MAFS, but you mind as well look into a N60 or N62.

My friend has been talking to the guys at NIStune and it seems to be a really good product so I'm most likely gonna go with that.

as for injectors what would it take to get the DSM injectors to fit?
I don't even know where I would look for GTR injectors lol

from what I've read, the DSM injectors drop right in, but you need to replace one of the o-rings. Just do a quick google search to be sure.

IMO, i think a wideband should be one of the first things people buy if they have a budget. I'd love to know my a/f ratios all the time, even if it is a stock setup (like mine). Its an absolute for tuning for sure though.

In short, the answer is yes :)

E60 MAF (pink label) is more user friendly than the N60 (voltage levels are more similar to stock), and cheaper than the N62, and is supposed to be good out to 350 hp. They are on A32 Maximas, and I think RB25s came with it, too.

the stance turbo clocking kit will save u the headache of clocking it. if u try to rotate the compressor housing itll dump your suction pipe almost into the body and your hot pipe wont want to line up, it kicks things at a fun angle. also get steel braided lines cause the oil feed line can be a bit aggravating when your holding the manifold/turbo assembly and your trying to line up that steel hard line

the t28 is an excellent turbo if your aiming for the 300 mark, any more and it may begin to choke on the top end. you could have garrett or precision or some (quality) manufacture clip the turbine wheel and then rebalance the unit and u could maybe even have any qualified machine shop port the turbine housing but i wouldnt think that to be ideal for spool characteristics seeing as how that will increase the gap between the vanes and wheel itself. my personal preference is a 2860, slightly larger and almost identical spool characteristics. add an exhaust cam (atleast) to help spool and go with the .86 hotside to keep it from choking at really high rpm and help promote the engines ability to exhale. remember, all that air your shoving in the engine also has to pass through that little hole and around the turbine wheel. the turbo needs to get out what it can take in.
