I fu*ked up guys.

As of late I have been playing GT5... a lot! I put in 140 hours in the last 2 weeks or so and I had just bought the games best purchasable car 4,8 million dollar F1 car. 3 hours later, it's gone. I have nothing.

How did this happen you ask?
  • I wanted to install a SSD into my PS3 because GT5 loading times are way to slow.
  • I forgot that PS3 game data can be saved via SD card or external USB HDD using FAT32 format.
  • I was planning to do an iso image of the original drive and copy it to the SSD.
  • Turned on the PS3 and cried when the "Disc not recognized. Would you like to format the drive?" popped up.
I just reached the summit of mountain GT5, only to be thrown off.

Is there any way to get the data back?

As far as I know, there isn't a way to retrieve lost data. That sucks dude, I'll gift you some cars to make things easier. No need to return them :)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Holy f*** dude that really sucks hardcore ballsacks. Sorry dont mean to laugh but that couldn't have happened at a worse time, I dont think I have to tell you that since you just got props for buying the F1 and getting really far in both Specs. If you can't get any info back I will gift you cars since you have helped me with info, seriously please feel free to ask.

You know this happened to me on GT3. I had completed ~75% of the game and my friend had like 17% of the game completed... he saved it over my file and I lost everything. I controller got smashed to bits shortly after that in rage. Also in GT4 the 2nd time through, I was in the F1 Championship Race about 7/10 races in. Mind you the races are 90-120+ mins long each. I let my friend play and he exited the race and spent all my freakin money on stupid crap to do 1/4 mile times. That wasn't as bad but I got pissed and didn't even attempt the game or race again.

Did you not do the intial hour download? It only takes 20 seconds to laod a level. Sorry I dont really understand computer langauges so Im not 100% sure what happened lol. Also, are any other game datas gone, like completely erased everything like a reformat?

Dont worry, I feel your pain. I am willing to donate in the xmas spirit. Dont forget about the xmas eve sale of the 3 free cars in the PS store... and PNF, get an avatar.

Ok whenever you first place a brand new drive into a computer you have to initialize the disc. This makes it readable and formatable.

What you can do is download a program called GET DATA BACK NTFS Or FAT32. Use this program to retrieve the data off of the HD that you had all your GT5 stuff saved on.

You're welcome.

And i love you.

So as I decided to restart my GT5 journey I was racing along and BOOM. Flashing red lights.

When it rains, it pours. WTF.
Don't worry ProudNissanFreak, I was able to turn it on for like 5 mins after the YLOD and recover my GT5 data (and your car).

The cost of GT5 is a large one...
$600 broken PS3
$300 for new PS3
$100 for GT5
$40 for self repair attempt
$1040 + (150 real life hours) + (5 years of save game data)

I did do the initial DL, and it still took 62 seconds to get from the PS3 menu to the game, 32.6 seconds to buy & install tires and 46 seconds to load a race...

With the SSD installed it takes only 19.4 seconds to buy and install tires. The others I haven't been able to measure them. Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference, I just wish I did it right the first time.

I don't want any gifts, I just want car loans. PNF already lent me a Galardo SV so I can compete in some of the races. I want a Skyline that I can compete in the Special Bonus Race no.1

I love you to, but PS3 HDDs aren't formated in either NTFS or FAT32, they allow you to backup data using memory formated as such. But recovering data off the internal disk drive would require an OS that can read specially encrypted PS3 data.

Wow, looks like your PS3 was heading out anyways. That makes me kind of nervous. Sorry to hear of your loss.

Is there any chance Sony themselves could help you out?

Thanks for the Skyline! I get a PS3 slim already and I need the cars from Seasonal Events: Bonus Race #1 & #2
alms24sebring wrote:Is there any chance Sony themselves could help you out?
Nope. They were upset that I remove the HDD. Corporate doesn't condone opening up the PS3 so they don't do any data recovery.

I need as many cars as possible for the Seasonal Events Bonus Race #1 and #2.

I finished the Skyline race from Bonus Race #1 and hopefully some one can shoot me a R/T Charger 70'...

I just might have one... maybe

I was actually about to see what cars I need for the seasonal races and attempt to win those. btw I can only get 3rd in the Skyline one. Its the R34 midnight purple III (), and at the hp limit of 493. It needs an oil change but I will be over the hp qualifications. Could the LOF have anything to do with that?
Any advice?
