It was right before spring break during my last semester of college. I was bored, so I was looking over parts and caved in to the prices.

Last year, I bought a 99 F250, Thread here

Since then I swapped out the headlights.
Image

Noticed that the truck was not warming up, so I swapped out with a 201 thermostat and billet housing.

Image

Finally caught a mod bug to improve the truck. Bought a wicked wheel, a turbo rebuild kit, bank's full monster exhaust with the elbow, the non-ebpv pedestal, riffraff's Frx, AIH delete plug + code eliminator, ceramic manifold replacements, S&B air box and a CS Edge Evolution w/ pyrometer.

Took everything apart and discovered that the up-pipes were leaking, so I bought ceramic coated IH bellowed up-pipes. Rebuilt the turbo and covered the turbine housing and banks elbow with Eastwood thermal ceramic barrier. Installed it back in while also replacing the manifolds to a fully ceramic system. I also installed the CS dash unit on my dash.

First start no problems, no codes. Ride pulls harder. Much harder and sooner. Boost kicks in much sooner, and the throttle lift surge is much more noticeable.

Later on I removed the clutch fan and installed 2 16" straight puller SPAL electric fans rated for 2360 cfm each. Wired in a Bussman fuse box. And not pictured is the DIF dual fan controller with two LED's to let me know the which fan signal is live or not. Pretty neat to watch the LED lights come on while driving around and when I am hard on the accelerator.

This is the most recent picture of my truck now with BFGoodrich KM2's mud terrian tires.

Took the truck cruising on the highway. Took a video of the dash. Shows how it sounds and how it accelerates at medium throttle mushing.

Well, if you put gas in it.. it runs like crap and the exhaust smells awful... but I never experienced it in my truck.

Far as MPG, varies I can get 16 MPG average. And roughly 20 MPG on the highway on a good day. The truck weighs 7200 lbs full of liquids and with the driver. What's impressive it on a 20+ MPH head wind, the truck gets the same fuel economy. My mother and I drove up to my sister's to move her out of her home. My mothers 2010 Subaru Forester fuel gauge just dropped like a rock.

Yes, but F650s are actually a joint venture between Ford and Navistar International. Made in Mexico. They are beasts.

I'm not sure that 16 MPG is anything to brag about, even with a turbo Diesel?

Still, pretty darn BA.

My average lower because I am addicted to the boost and the second gear pull you back in your seat. I get consistent 12 MPG when I am rumping the throttle for acceleration.

But again, I used to think the figure was low too, but compared to other trucks I discovered it's very good. My truck full of fluid and me as driver weighs 7200 lbs, it is equipped with 4WD with 3.73 final drive ratios. It can pull a max payload of 12,000 lbs with 3,000 lbs in the bed of the truck. Even loaded, the fuel economy will stick to the average. Had the engine was a gaser, the fuel economy would tank to 5 to 8 MPG if not lower. That's where the diesel begins to shine even being 7.3 Litres in size too!

I still have drive it around consistently to get a better figures, which also means I need to ease my addiction.

There's not much call for that kind of power daily, really, unless you're a lumberjack or a heavy equipment hauler...

I don't mean to take away from it's awesomeness, merely remark at how ridiculous that amount of go is! I could have used it on my last trip to upstate NY last week tho... it would have taken that 2500 lb trailer like it was nothing!

There I agree with you and I don't feel down from your posts either. I intend to this truck to be one of my "tools" that I have for my workshop I am slowly building. It's my main source of transportation right now, but I been living in the dorms at my college so I was able to get by with driving it much. The good news is that the truck is paid off this coming month, and I am going to hunt for a daily that is nicer to my wallet.

Nice truck!

I know the power of those V8's in Duramax Diesel form. The Towing on these vehicles makes it feel like nothings there.

Buddy just got a F-something, Power Stroke V8, 48'' lift on 38''s. Comes up to my chest, but I'm only 6'0.

Nice truck, that's pretty much what I want but I settled for an obs psd. At least it's an xlt :/

Im looking into doing the ebpv delete - did you just pull the actuator or did you replace the turbo outlet with a non ebpv one?

16mpg is average. I get 15.7 with mine, 70/30 city/hwy driving with only turbo back exhaust and DIY intake.

What're your future plans? Soon I plan on getting gauges, tw 6-pos tunes, transmission cooler, billet valve body, and stage one injectors. And much later down the road: electric fuel system, wvo system, and webasto or espar heater.

Both. I replaced the turbo outlet with a Banks 4", it came with the complete exhaust system which proved cheaper than buying the elbow and then an exhaust system. Then I replaced the pedestal, that has the actuator, with an non-EBPV pedestal.

I got the Edge CS to avoid having gauges.

Future plans are brakes, new rotors in all four corners with new pads. Shocks at all four corners. I will be doing a underbody clean up and painting as a preventative maintance. Evenually I will have to replace ball-joints and bearings. The next time I rebuild the turbo, I might replace the turbine housing with a higher A/R, such as 1.0 or 1.15 to help bring down the EGT's and help with fuel economy due to lower exhaust backpressure.

Soon, I might put a pressure regulator on my map sensor to prevent the overboost limp mode to kick in and dump fuel.

I don't really have a lot planned. I want to bring the fuel economy up, not the performance as much.
