hey, i just wanna say thanks for clicking my thread. basically im installing a new grant steering wheel. i already have the stock wheel dissassembled, all i got to do is take the steering wheel off, and begin the new steering wheel install. but i cant take the wheel off. its stuck on the steering columb shaft. i pull.. yanked.. hit.. etc etc.. she just being very stubborn. im thinking of buying a pully picker and taking that to her. but idk if thats going to work out. im looking for some legit suggestions.

When I was pulling my wheel I tried pulling and beating and all that jazz. What ended up working was just trying to sort of rock it back and forth from left to right. Thought I was going to yank the column out just pulling and beating it straight on.

i think i used a mallet when i took mine off you can bang it real good from he bottom but the top is hard to hit but it worked for me.
I think autozone has steering wheel pullers for rent i may be mistaken
and it sounds like you already did this but just incase make sure you took off the nut under the horn panel on the wheel

Pull real hard on it while sitting in the driver seat. youll get more leverage that way.

You can rock it side to side while pulling on the wheel and it may come off, however be sure to leave the nut threaded on the steering shaft a few turns so you don't get a face full of steering wheel. The best way to get it off is with a puller.

Put your key in the ignition and turn so the wheel isn't locked anymore, it should pop right off after that. Had the same problem with mine.

Seriously guys? A steering wheel puller costs about $10 at the parts store and makes taking the wheel off a cinch. Beating on the wheel is a stupid idea. In case you guys forget, the steering column is designed to collapse in the event of an accident. Granted, hitting it straight on the shaft will cause it to collapse the fastest bc it mimics your body hitting the wheel (and the FSM states never to do this), but hitting it period can still damage/collapse the column, and that'll cost you more than a puller would have.

lol. thanks you guys, but i got it. i just sat in the car for an hour and rocked it back and forward (9 o clock and 3 o clock position. tho it might seem like its welded on the shaft, its not lol, it just takes times. ( and a lot of us arent pacient when you got new parts to install  ) and yeah a pully puller would have done wonders. but thanks for the input.
