I cant start my car..

Hello, so i've been driving my 1990 240sx hatchback (with a ka24e i thiiiink). It was originally an auto, but the guy i got it from turned it into a manual transmission.

Nothing on the engine is aftermarket, except a drop-in filter and exhaust. I've been having a ticking sound when i accelerate too.

Problem is now, I can't start the car. And there were 3 instances beforehand, read on:

1st instance- I parked it, everything was fine, but tried to turn the car on 5 minutes later and it wouldnt start. My electronics worked, and it would make that ignition sound (is that turning over?) but it wouldn't make that vroom sound afterwards. I waited about 8 hours to try again and it worked.

2nd instance- Same scenario as above, cept I thought "hey maybe i'm low on oil" (I was a little bit), so I added a quart of oil and it worked with some effort.

3rd instance- Everything was good, started and stopped the car many times that day. Then ran out of gas because was in a hurry to get somewhere, and after filling up 1 gallon, (in the new safer gas cans ($10 wtf)) I tried to start it, but found the same problem, electronics worked, but my car wouldn't start!!! I got a jumpstart from a nice security officer and it worked! I didn't think it was going to work.. but my engine was kinda funny after that..

NOW MY CAR IS lurching on all my gears!! what is wrong?!?!

It started off being just 1st gear, (this all happened in 1 hour), then 2nd gear started driving funny, like there was no power, then there was normal power! , and yeah at low rpms it felt like the transmission wasn't smooth, like my syncro was broken (If it can break). Now my car is stuck at my friends house, because that's where i parked it last. (wouldn't start up afterwards)

So, please please please help, I'm a newb that only knows how to do an oil change (very well tho if i may add). and this is my first car that I like very much.

Check your fuel systemFilter, injector and pump

Try that particular order.

Check your fuel filter....could be cloggedInjectors could be leaking causing a gas flooding, hence no start.Fuel pump could be in its last days, sometime will work, sometimes not. Check if the fuel pump "primes" when the key is in "ON" position.
