I cant find the problem, please help.

Hello everyone thanks for viewing my post. I resently bought a Nissan 240sx 1990 i believe SE at a Towing Company. I checked the car out with a couple of friends and everything seemed to be fit. As we were driving home the car, we tried to turn on the radio and the car suddenly shut down. After it wouldnt start or run at all. So we pushed the car to the nearest mechanic and he charged the car with a portable battery. As soon as he took it off, the car died. We went and got the battery which seemed to be brand new and got it charged for ten bucks. It drove well and made it back to my house. We went to another mechanic to see what the problem was. He said there were many problems and said it might be the alternator. After further anaysis of the car he found out that the powersteering hose was cut and was spraying all over the alternator. So we got those 2 parts brand new and the mecahnic changed them. Now the battery was recharged again, but the car still wouldnt run. The car will start and will run until the battery runs out. The car will not pass smog either. If anyone has any idea on why the car wouldnt run or anything even close to related please write me a reply. Thank you so much.

Check all your fuses make sure none are blown. If nothing found there have this new alt tested it may be defective.

thanks for the info. The mechanic called me telling me that a fuse was blown and he changed it and teh alternator is currently working. I still dont get the car back till the smog is done. Hopefully the car is in working condition by now. Thanks
