Last night I was d!ck around.. and another V pulls up next to me and just takes off..yadya you know what happens there

so.. we are coming to a stop but the light is about to turn green so Im driving ~70 and had the car in 2nd gear ready to stop... suddenly my foot slips of the clutch my right foot was over the brake... I hit the brake in the sudden slowdown and my face almost hit the wheel....I about **** myself watching the tach hit 7500 RPM.

The car makes no funky noises, still operates as normal, nothing different after driving ~40 miles I usually do per weekday.... I babied the car home not going over 2k RPM.. i was totally freaked...

At this point I am assuming all is OK since it was only for a breif second since the clutch and engine speed dont match up the instant you engage a clutch.. and I hit the brakes when it happened...

Anyone wanna confirm that I might be Ok? Im taking it to the dealer's for an oil change next week or so, I just hit th 3k mark since last oil change... so if there is something need to be checked, let me know Ill inform the dealership

You likely caused irreversible damage to the main bearings, oil pump, and not to mention piston rings. You will notice oil consumption, and by the time your engine hits 60k, you'll need a total rebuild... If you were to do that every time you took off from a dead stop for the next ten years, and never changed the oil!

Seriously though, you didn't damage anything. You'd be SURPRISED how much punishment an internal combustion engine can take before they even BEGIN to suffer any damage. The engine has a rev limiter to prevent (or reduce) engine damage, and one 7500k shot isn't going to hurt it.

Just don't tell the dealer. And hope your dealer doesn't read your post!

Rev on.

^ Agreed! Don't sweat it man your car will be fine. That's what the rev limiter is there for. I think if anything is damaged it was probably your ego. I've done stuff like that before and it's embarrassing.

The rev limiter can't protect you from over reving your engine while down shifting.... Most likely nothing happened but just make a habit of it.

ive done that twice acidently just miss shifting not paying attention... it was late and i was exhausted. the first time i meant to shift to 4th and threw it in 2nd... man i practically pissed my pants went my revs hit 8,000 and i pushed the clutch in and threw it in neutral and like you said, babied the car the rest of the way. the 2nd time i did it and it went to 7,500. but i havn't noticed n e thing bad our weird sounding/operating about the car. you'll be ok.

Don't sweat it, you'll be fine. They dish out more abuse than that during initial testing anyhow.
