So I am at a parking lot at a grocery store completly seculded from everyone else no one behind me no one to the left or right of me. I come back out and a white hyandi elantra is parked behind me with his licence plate touching my back bumper. The first thing I though was ****, and then I moved my car forward to see if there is any damge and sure enough there is a small scratch/gouge in the back bumper. So I wait the owner to show up, I called my GF's dad who is a police officer, and he tells me I am **** out of luck, the parking lot is private property the best you can do is wait for the person to show up and if they are a good enough person, they might do something.

So I wait and an elderly couple show up and I say, 'Excuse me sir, when I got to my car your bumper was touching my car." The guy just ignored me, and his wife pipes in 'No Bob didn't hit anything." And I said "Yes Ma'am he did I have a gouge in my back bumper and look how much over the line your car is?" She says no and we don't recall if there was anyone parked in front of us" I said "Ma'am there is no need to lie, because I remember parking and I pulled through your spot." Both of them denied it and got in the car and drove away. My Girlfriend was there and told them the same thing, I cannot believe people now a days. I do have thier license plate but I am pretty much out of luck.

im sorry man that sucks i know exactly how you feel , i had some **** like that happened to me i used to park my car in valet parking i had no choice , they dented my rear right panel next to the wheel well and denied it when i told them i want to file a claim and that this happened at their lot they showed me a parking ticket that they fill out when you enter that had marked on it that i supposedly had this damage on my car prior to entering the lot long story short i got nothing out of it my claim got denied and i paid 400 to get it fixed and repainted.

some people have no respect for others property, what goes around comes around

I just recently (in the past week) got bumper tapped (gone before i got to the car)...

I just dont park, ill bring a friend with me wherever i go, and force them out of the car when im at a slow roll. Get them to do whatever i need... Then pick them up in a "relay race" style!

Wow dude that sucks, if it were in the US the cops would have been there and took statements, which is a blessing and a curse, because sometimes ya just want to work it out with minor scrapes scuffs and not tell anyone especially insurance, and then a police officer just happens to be in the right place at the time and is then obligated to write a report even if he/she doesn't want to

the worst thing i've EVER had happen was when i used valet in hollywood. I had left my wallet in the glovebox but neglected to lock it. they stole 50 bucks and when i filed a claim, nothing ever happened (guess they do it all the time) so if you ever go to club CINESPACE in hollywood, don't valet... or just lock all your stuff up

At that point you put it in reverse and back into their car. Then deny it and drive away.

i agree, woudlnt have moved it, would have taken pictures with my cell phone, called police. take picture of there liscense plate.

If no police i would have let them drive away then follow them in distance till i see where they lived, later on i would have been back with a baseball bat and took a good 2 or 3 hard shots some where and bailed.

To afraid to knee there side panels in daylight where everybody could see, that seems like would get me in alot of trouble hehe.

egg? man,. you're being nice. I would have used something that would have made more of a statement like..a burning bag of dog $**** on their front door, ringing the bell and running away!!!

Seriously though, sorry to hear about your problem. I can't stand inconsiderate people...and lying ba$tards at that!

defiantly should have never moved your car. sorry to hear that.crap like that sucks but it happens all the time. I was sitting in my car(not my a/c) in a parking lot and had an old woman pull into the space in front of me and hit my cars front bumper while she was parking. she got out of the car and started walking away like nothing had happened so i got out of my car to confront her and she completely denied it like it didn't just happen and me g/f and I weren't sitting in the car when it did. hahaha I was like WTF are you serious? needless to say my g/f went off on the lady and she finaly gave in and admitted to the security guard (who by that time had driven up in his little parking lot security golf cart cuz of the commotion) that she hit my car. it sucks that old people think they can do **** and get away with it because they're old. hahaha I've accidentally tapped someones car with my door getting out and waited for them to get there so i could apologize and offer to pay to have the scratch fixed but then again that's just me.

It happened to me too when my car was only 6 weeks old - didn't even have a bug on the grill yet. Anyways, I was out for lunch and parked in the very corner of the parking lot - away from everyone. When I got back, there was a s****y old truck next to me baby and a huge scruff and dent - about the size of an egg. I waited for the own and when the old balls came out, and denied it I lost it. I asked him to open his door, with carefully selected words, but he would not and actually ended up going back inside because he would not show me that his door would not perfectly line up with my new pinstriping.$200 bucks later, it still pisses me off to think about it.

I hate when stupid crap like that happens.

Well, what you could do here. Since the girl's father is a cop, you have him look up the plate, find their address, and knock on their door so you can give them a friendly reminder about the nice damage to your car

I had a similar situation many years ago but it turned out differently. I parked on a somewhat steep incline in a busy college parking lot and went to a class. When I returned, another car was parked in front of me and resting on my bumper, and along side of it was a very angry couple accusing me of squeezing into a spot and hitting them. They were happy to tell me that they had my license plate number and had called the police. I told them that they were not there when I parked and proceeded to leave.

As I pulled back to leave the police arrived and I got out to talk to them. Just as the couple were making their accusations that I hit them, their car began rolling down hill towards my car. "Ah ha!" I exclaimed, "You should try your parking brake!" I drove away with a big grin as they stared in silent embarrassment.

the second his wife opened her mouth to defend him without him saying a word, I woulda drop kicked his bumper and awkwardly ran away like napolean dynamite lol

but seriously, if someone obviously denied something like that to my face, senior or not, I woulda been the one getting arrested lol, people that dont take responsibility for their actions just straight up push me over the edge lol

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. I would have at least followed them home and made note of their address. Then at 2 in the morning . . . well. . . there was some left over eggs. Also, you do have one of those valve core removers don't you?
