... on which generation G to get!

05/06 auto sedan or 07+ auto sedan

the price difference is 10k, is it really worth it?

I'm thinking six or seven hundred bean's worth in engine mods to an 05/06 should notch it up to the new G's performance, but then I really don't know as I haven't driven either. And then there's the handling, and the fuel economy, and aaaaaarrrrghhhhh!!!!!!!!1

Help me out here guys.

if you can afford the 07+ then get it...

If you want to save yourself 10k and get a fun car get the 05-06

If you really are smart you buy the 05-06 and then purchase the vortec supercharger! IMHO this is what i would do!

I'd say 05/06.

10k price difference?

That 10k right there could really turn your car into something golden.

Oh of course I can go the SC route, but then I'll when I see how my day to day mpg lies in Porsche Cayenne territory.

Im only gonna do bolt ons (and lots of em) thank you. but I'd like to know if anyone here with full bolt ons, (like plenum, spacer, intake, exhaust, headers, damper, grouding kit, am I missing anything?) matches the new G's quarter mile.

The 07+ sedans are more refined than the 03-06. If you want power, go with the 05-06 and add FI. If you want a nicer interior, go with the 07+. If you want the most inexpensive (more $$ for mods) do the 03-04.

I own an 05 coupe and I've driven and 07 and 08 Sedan. Other than the squishy suspension (read body roll) and lame tires, I was almost happier with the sedan than coupe (and I LOVE my coupe).

The sedan feels faster. The extra 500 rpm redline is nice to have. Dual intakes is pretty awesome too. Fuel economy should be better. The key fob is SUPER helpful when you're hands are full.

That's just my opinion. If I had the 10k+ another 3-4k for suspension, exhaust and a few other mods, I would own an 08 sedan right now.

So you say the new sedan is more fun than your coupe, huh? Aww heck, I'll get a new G, just as soon as my parents sell a home (they're the ones buying me the car, as soon as they get rid of a house). Damn recession.

I hope they come out with sway bars for those new G's, though.

I would go with the 05/06 sedan. A Vortech SC plus installation might cost you a total of $7K out the door (depending on where you live), and you still have $3K to play with. And then, it will still be faster than an 07 Sedan and many other cars its size and weight, by a long shot. So, are you buying the car to have fun (05/06 Sedan) or are you buying the car to show off (07 sedan)? Just my 2 cents.

I think you should get the 06 6MT like mine and add a Vortech Supercharger!

I think there is a TSB on the 07s and the 08s were better. I still know where you're coming from. Auto transmission was

i personally would buy an 05-06 and use the money i saved to upgrade my 05-06 g35 to be better than an 07+ g35... but like someone said if you just looking for style then 07+ dose look better...

but most people here enjoy driving their G35, plus you cant see how the car looks while you driving

here you go.

If money is not an issue buy an 07+ G. If it is an isue. Try to get newest possible with the lowest miles on it.

I don't know about there but here in Canada now you can get an 07 sedan for just about where the highest 06 are. If that is the case it is a no brainer.

They feel different too. 07 had a throttle kind of weird. If you like to feel the kick then the 07 is for you if not just get the ecu flash. They can change it for you. They can put the 08 ecu update in it. But you can't go back. Testdrive everything and see what you like better.

Test driving is fun.

You can buy an 07 sedan for 25k. Where did you guys get the 10K differences. I mean yes you can buy it for 32 but you can get one for 25k.

SVTCOBRA: No I haven't test driven either.

I really don't want to get the 07 if its got throttle issues.

Basically, I want the car that is MORE OF A HOOT to drive. I hate the feeling of a heavy oaf of a car, which the new G35 looks like, though I might be wrong. I need quick, agile, light on its feet, and responsive.

My order of importance:

1. Puts a smile on my face when I drive it.2. No mechanical issues.3. Gets decent mpg's.4. Comfortable, nice interior.....10. Looks good.

And supercharging, sadly, is not an option for me. My parents are strict, I'm still living off them, they are buying the car partly for the whole family's use, and no way on God's green Earth will I manage to convince them to dish out 7k to make my car a gazz guzzling speed demon.

I still vote for the newer sedans with some suspension mods.

Weight difference is about 50lbs.

Ok so if no SC... then get the 07+

And the Throttle issue is that it makes it very touchy! You only have to give it a little and it goes WOT!

It can be fun but very bad on the wallet!

The 08's had this problem fixed! It is a more gradual acceleration Feel

07 = on or off08 = better control!

Well, old or new, I'll have to wait until my mom&pop make a sale, maybe I'll make up my mind by then.

Damn my indecisiveness. Damn it to hell.

You get used to the sticky throttle on the 07 Sedans. I would also recommend you go with an 07+ sedan. It is much easier to have more then 2 people fit in the car compared to the coupe. The performance is almost up to the coupe (my modded 05 is faster, but OEM the sedans are quicker).

You can put on suspension mods and tires to eliminate the "squishy" feeling on the sedan.

Alright I'm officially confused. Some say the new sedans are faster stock than modded old ones, you say your modded 05 coupe is faster than the new sedans.

Who's right? And how modded is your coupe, joe?

what everyone is trying to tell you in different ways is that you save money buying an older model, like an 05 or an 06 coupe, while still moding it out, and still be faster than buying a brand new 08 Sedan with all that cash, and without any modifications. I hope this helps.

Ok here is a dragtime list with some of the modded G.

http://www.dragtimes.com/Infin....html

If you mod enough it will be faster then the 07 and up. With a few bolt ons you might feel it is faster.

If you juice it sure it will be. Put a s/c or turbo on it sure it will be faster.

Why not just drive both and see which one you like better. Then you can go from there. They are totally different.

I hope it helps.
