I can't go into reverse...help...

92 KA24DE w/ 156k miles w/ stock clutch/flywheel. I was going to park my car today to find out it wouldn't go into reverse. I thought it wuz the typical issue, so i tried everything from switching to every gear, having a little motion, engaging and disengaging the clutch....etc. Nothing.. Then I hear a slight engagement noise, kind of like an aftermarket clutch chatter. But the car is not in motion and this is when it's in neutral. So I'm starting to worry and see if it will drive. It will, no problems(so far). I just can't get into reverse. And its got this wierd chattering, like something is engaged or hitting the gears when i'm in neutral. I know that my 5th gear synchros are bad. It grinds heavily whenever i shift into 5th. Could the synchros be the culprit? Thanx

im thinking thta. my reverse can be a pain to get into sometimes.

sup...its not like a pain to get into reverse. That gear is totally locked out. Won't budge. After playing w/ it some more, I'm thinking it is the synchros cuz i actually got into reverse after fighting w/ it for like 10 min. Seems like it shifting from 3rd, 4th AND 5th gets locked in the middle. I have to jerk it hard...:rolleyes
