I was about to do some work on the ole Z, and I was using a ratchet to disconnect the battery terminals. the positive needed a good push to break it loose, and of course it landed in between the terminals. It was only for a quick second, but now the car will NOT shut off! I have searched and searched, but there aren't many threads about cars not shutting off. any suggestions? The only way it shuts off is if I let out the clutch and kill it, and If i don't pull the positive wire from the bat, the battery dies within a few hours. Also, if I pull the ign. relay, it starts and stops like normal.

You fired a wire somewhere, its a PITA tracing stuff like this down, could also be that you popped the IGN relay and it is stuck in the on position. There are lots of things it could be, best thing to do at this point if to check out continuity on the harness and test relays. Check the FSM for wire routing and relay testing procedures.

Yeah, That is what I was worried about. I tested all the relays tonight, all were good, but I noticed after i run the car and shut it off, when i disconnect the battery I can sometimes hear a click that seems to be coming from the drivers side of the engine bay in the big cluster of relays. Any suggestions on where to begin? I hate jumping into a project like this blind. If a wire fried would it have to be shorting with another wire/ground to cause this, or could a burned up wire by itself do it?

It would either have to be shorting to ground somewhere or shorted to another wire that is grounding it out (so still STG). So when you turn the key off and take it out of the ignition the car still runs?

yea, it keeps running, it will idle slower, but not shut off.
