The only way to do a conversion would be to find a car that had compatible parts or have a company make a prototype aftermarket kit to test on your vehicle unless a kit already exists.jfrussell wrote:Ok, so I've officially owned my Versa for about 8 hours and I'm already thinking of what I can do to it. First off. I am of the mind that disc brakes are better than drum. Has anyone done a conversion to the rear brakes from drum to disc?
Secondly, Any suggestions for general improvements? I will be purchasing a K&N filter soon. What else should I add to my "to do" list? This is strictly a commuter so I'm just looking for stuff to increase performance and longevity.
Thanks!!
I am not sure I understand the K and N filter replacement. Assuming you pick up a couple horsepower, that would not seem to justify the cost over the regular OEM filter. We are talking about a 120 hp car. Not a 300 HP high performance vehicle. I used a K and N in an old BMW but got tired of the hassle of cleaning it. The one time of $45 or so, vs $12-15 every few thousand miles. Less about add hp and more about economics.reyes1212 wrote:While there is not a lot of aftermarket support, you can find some neat things for the V.
Search around here and you can find most of what milehigh posted.
red devil........you always crack me up........hey milehigh russell bought an s version so he needs s version upgrades........if he has a couple gs to spend then upgrade the wheels tint etc.. i'm with red devil here.......buy the car with all that bling before you sign on the dotted line.......at least get the sl version right off.out.Red Devil wrote:

What he said. And if it helps at all with HP or MPG then it's just that much better.biggie wrote:The one time of $45 or so, vs $12-15 every few thousand miles. Less about add hp and more about economics.
I have one.
A bit (ok a lot) above what I'm currently planning on spending. I'm gonna start small with stuff like fog lights and maybe changing out some interior lights with LED's. Was the lowering springs for looks or purpose? Or both?Mile High Versa wrote:Tint windowsChange out dome/map lights to LEDsUpgrade speakers, get sub and ampFootwell LEDsAftermarket wheelsAftermarket exhaustLowering springsCAI AEM or FujitaOEM all season matsOEM spoilerOEM foglights
I don't even have a K&N in my 300hp performance vehicle.fjwagner wrote:

do sl models come with drum brakes? i thought paying 3 thousand more would give you all disc . standard features include drum brakes. i know you purchased your sl hb for 12 grand but it seems that alot of the sl owners payed around 17-18 grand for their sls. i really don't think i would pay that much for this car especially when program sls are going for 11 12 grand. i know alot of these rentals were beat the crap out of but alot of them were properly maintained it's a crapshoot i guess. my s hb had 20,000 miles @ 12,900 bucks from a nissan dealership. i haven't had any problems yet. that was last september maybe the prices are even better now. do you have to buy a brand new car to get the tax writeoff......anyone know?jfrussell wrote:Ok, so I've officially owned my Versa for about 8 hours and I'm already thinking of what I can do to it. Paying for a lot of stuff that isn't brakes on the SL. Especially in '07 when the S models couldn't get any options on them. I really wanted an S with power and cruise control, but couldn't get it. So ended up with $16k SL (stickered at $17,400). But it was worth it. And still a lot cheaper than my last new car (Pathfinder).grogman wrote:

Yes ABS is also an option on SL, mine doesn't have it.grogman wrote:ya milehigh i thought sls came with full disc so my bad. wrong again lol. they should for the price though.....which means abs is optional on sl i'm assuming. out.
I agree with you. I wouldn't mind better handling, but I think the car handles pretty well stock and I really don't want to have a more stiff ride.Bubs daddy wrote:Lowering may allow this car to handle a bit better but there's a tradeoff. It will also ride a bit stiffer, too.
As far as appearance, that's subjective and I know I would not lower mine. I prefer its stock appearance than to be lowered. To me, the lowered Versa doesn't look as good as I prefer some space between the tire and sheet metal.
Exactly the situation I ran into. The auto CVT transmission was a must and to get that it had to be an SL. The upgraded stereo and other perks were just welcome collateral.biggie wrote:Paying for a lot of stuff that isn't brakes on the SL.
