I thought I was happy driving only one Q but came across a deal in the Infiniti Cars for Sale Forum that I couldn't turn down. A 94Q with only 49k miles, garage kept with full reciepts for all service done only at Infniti dealerships (Vegas, San Diego and Pacific Beach) and All Import Service (aka Jerry Tucker).

ca-94-q45-only-49k-miles-t529558.html

The car was purchased new in Las Vegas by an airline pilot who lived in a condo with an underground parking structure. There's covered parking at L.V. airport also so the leather was rarely exposed to the sun. He drove it 20k miles in 7 years and passed it on to his son who put on another 15k miles in 8 years. The owner I bought it from (Bruce) put about 15k in 3 1/2 years. Bruce put in 8 new BWD fuel injectors, a full set of Tokiko struts/boots, rear sway bar, tension rod bushings, engine belt set, fan control amp, plugs, cats and KS. He also bought the tire/wheel set from Jerry Tucker's shop- 18" G35 wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. MAF was replaced at 30k by the previous owner.

The leather is like brand new- no scratches, no cracks, no wrinkles, no stains, absolutely no sign of wear. I have receipts for all oil changes and the engine internals (looking through the oil fill hole) are spotless. transmission has been flushed and shifts like new. Paint is flawless and shines like the day it rolled out of the showroom. The dealership just had the intake off to replace KS and replaced a couple of hoses as well as the 8 plenum gaskets. It looks like this car is going to run many more years without problems. Some pics from a short drive today (200 mile round trip) to the Feather River Canyon:

That is one gorgeous Q. Getting into that car must be like hopping into a time machine and going back several years.
You got it for a great price too.

Enjoy :dblthumb:

Congratulations Goody!!! You owning another 1994 Q45 is like destiny. Sorry Wes I can't help but think you would take the good panels off that Q to put on to yours. :)

Thanks for the comps guys. Did I mention that it also came with a NICO ECU, a spare set of new unused floor mats, a Bose aux connector, the original chrome wheels (not piepans) with Michelin tires with 75% tread, and Bruce drove it 500 miles from San Diego to Sacramento to deliver it since he was coming to nearby Davis for a few days. I paid for gas.

This is the 7th Q45 I've owned and a coincidence that I bought the first one exactly six years ago on Memorial Day weekend. I got the first Q for my son who was moving away to college (he didn't like or want the car) because I didn't know any better, but blame #2 through #7 on Wes who fed my addiction with his contributions here and on his Q45.org web site. Once I got the 1st Q running well I was hooked.

I,m really happy for you Goody; with all you do for everyone here there is nobody more deserving of a great deal. By the way, your old 94 is running strong with a Q45a rear swaybar, FSTB and 9 slot Lexus 16" wheels back on her.

Well done. I was hoping someone on NICO would pick it up.

It should serve you well for MANY more years ... and soon it might be Cali-exempt?

Update....... I sold my 94Q yesterday. I still own the 92Q with 151k miles but decided that owning 2 Q's was a drain on my pocketbook. I bought this car in May 2011 with 49k miles and sold it yesterday with 66k miles for $3600. Over the last two years I had about $2500 in maintenance costs which included rear brakes, cats, O2 sensors, tires and 2 smog tests. My daughter lives next door and we sold her old Accord (with high maintenance costs) when I got the 92Q last year. I'd trade cars with her every couple of months so I could do maintenance and keep both Q's in top condition. She bought a 2007 G35x a few weeks ago so it was time to sell one of the Q's.

I sold it at the Sierra College Auto Mall which sets up a parking lot every weekend where for $40 you leave your car for hundreds of buyers with cash in their pockets to look at. My Q was one of the cheapest of all the cars on the lot both weekends. In the 2 weekends I was there I had multiple calls and a few test drives and ended up selling it for my asking price which also happened to be high blue book. I had a couple of lowballers make offers but stuck to my price since I could see with the amount of interest in the car that it would sell for full price.

Within 3 hours of selling it the buyers had it listed on Craigslist for $4800 hoping to make a quick profit. I think it's going to be a hard sell at that price and I'm happy to have gotten $3600 for it, but more power to them.

I was having a tough time getting the 94Q smogged and didn't want to have to spend another $1000 replacing the cats two years from now since I couldn't figure out the problem. The previous owner spent $2000 at the Infiniti stealership getting it smogged before he sold it to me. They noted that it was cycling between rich (high HC) and lean (high NOx) even after all the work they did to it. I had the same problem 15 months later (Sept 2012) and spent $1000 to replace the cats again. I actually had the Q sold 3 weeks ago to a different buyer but failed smog at a test only station on the weekend. Took it to the shop I use Monday morning and it passed no problem. The car never did perform as well as any of the other Q's I'd owned. Probably a leaking vacuum or emissions hose somewhere.

Also, I really like the 90-93 Q's. When running properly they're much faster than the 94-96 Q. My 92 is a cosmetically clean and mechanically well-tuned beast and I really enjoy driving it, even with 151k miles. I only paid $1 for it so it's a good story to tell when people ask.

You are correct, the 90-92 were by far the fastest, but man the gremlins!!!! I am surprised you have such a big issue getting smogged, my Q is a dream for smogs and my 84' Z still smogs clean in CA (did replace cats, EGR etc.). Oh well the smog laws in CA are a b****.
